Contract Technical Writer
Job Description
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, or test procedures. Facilitates content management processes which adhere to all company and quality management principles.
Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Researches and translates technical information into controlled documents for nontechnical and technical users. Documents work processes and specifications.
Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards. Manages document control lifecyle by facilitating change management and periodic review processes for controlled procedures.
Provides consultation or documentation review for others as needed or as requested.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Develop Documentation
Develops documentation through all stages of the writing process
Applies global documentation principles
Conducts evaluations of audience, purpose, and format
Adhere to current technical writing principles, the company style guide, and various technical communication and web development style guides
Provides writing support to other writers specifically proofreading for grammar and mechanics and verifying language and style consistency among writers
Creates flowcharts and process diagrams
Use standard English grammar, mechanics, and composition
Provide Writing and Editing Consultation
Proofreads documents periodically for others including grammar, spelling, punctuation, adding headings and bulleted lists
Educate subject matter experts and end users on technical writing and web requirements and standards
Manage Content
Manages content following established standards
Applies established versioning standards
Ensures that all content is appropriately secured within the content management system
Manage Business Process
Facilitates periodic document reviews
Demonstrates knowledge of all of writing teams processes and procedures
Maintains approval routes and notifications
Provides metrics and data to assigned area with regard to PDR performance
Environmental Health, Safety, and Security
Follow all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Be an active participant in the EHSS program by reporting all EHSS-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (ERT, Supervision, etc.)
Be proactive in reducing incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards, or environmental releases
Identify and promptly report hazards
Location : Onsite - Boise, Idaho
Duration: 3-6 months
