Tableau Software is looking for a skilled Technical Writer to create best-in-class technical content for the Tableau product suite. Our content team works in a fast-paced, agile environment to develop technical content that helps our customers plan, deploy and manage Tableau Server and Tableau Online. As a technical writer on our team, you will work collaboratively with partners in marketing, product development, and support to deliver technical content to a global audience.

At Tableau, we're on a mission to help people see and understand their data. We're looking for technical writers who want to bring their energy and experience to our team, and work at a company that is consistently rated one of the best places to work. Is this you?

Who you are

  • Experienced. We're looking for people who have experience building and shipping commercial software.

You are a skilled communicator with experience in technical writing or a related discipline. You've worked with your share of tools and processes and always put the customer first. Localization? Oh, yeah, you know all about that.

  • IT aware. Do terms like server configuration, high availability, and performance tuning sound familiar? We help server administrators install, configure, tune, and troubleshoot their servers, which may be running online, in the cloud, or on-premises.

  • Developer aware. Got script?

Java, C#, C++, Python, Rubyif you can work with any of these (or if you want to learn), that's a big plus. We explain to developers how they can use APIs to work with Tableau.

  • Agile. Standups, scrums, and sprints have been part of your everyday work.

  • People-friendly. You work easily with other writers, developers, marketing folks, and, of course, with customers.

  • Hands on. Your typical approach to figuring out how something works is to install it and dive in.

  • Scenario focused. You know that features do not exist outside of a broader user experience. You create content that delivers end-to-end solutions for your audience.

  • Creative. You're constantly thinking about the shortest distance between the problem and the solution, and you're able to convey that in a beautiful way.

  • Independent. No one needs to tell you what to doyou typically already know, and you're probably already working on it.

Sound like fun? Come talk to us, show us your work, and join our team!
