The Technical Writer is responsible for producing high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. Work collaboratively with developers, quality engineers, product managers, and usability experts to make our products easier to use.
In this role the incumbent's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides
Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications
Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
Create and maintain the information architecture
Prepare and update Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs).
Prepare and update Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs), Qualification Test Reports (QTRs), and Qualification by Similarity (QBS) reports.
Author and control installation manuals and component maintenance manuals in accordance with ATA 100 and iSpec 2200.
Update publications index as required by ATA 100.
Maintain manuals supply to support product shipments.
Provide external customers with general publications support pertaining to troubleshooting, service, repair, overhaul, and operation of equipment.
Ability to learn and implement reliability concepts in support of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) and MIL-HDBK-217F reliability predictions.
CDRL/SDRL preparation, control, and data management.
Other duties, as assigned.
The successful candidate will have a background which includes the following demonstrable experience, skills and education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
Excellent written skills in English
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development
Previous technical experience.
Knowledge of currently used technical language.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities.
Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to comprehend technical information/data (specifications, parts lists, assembly drawings, test data, et cetera).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is occasionally high.
