Job Description:

This position is a Technical Writer with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Information Technology (MFC IT) supporting a DoD contract. Work location is Lexington, Kentucky.

Writes, in clear and concise language, such technical documents as procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, operation, and maintenance of information systems. Includes writing documentation such as operational specifications, bulletins, knowledgebase articles, and user communications. Acquires or verifies knowledge of subject by interviewing IT personnel engaged in developing new products and services or in making improvements, observing performance of tests and methods of production, and reviewing vendor technical documentation.

This position requires that a DoD 8570 baseline IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ ce) be obtained within 6 months of hire date.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.

  • Experience with creating and editing electronic documents.

This program is critical to the success of US service men and women deployed throughout the world. Our mission is to rapidly and properly equip the SOF community and its war fighters with the best possible systems and equipment anywhere in the world. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work as part of an engineering team based in Lexington, Ky. The team is focused primarily on modifying existing hardware and integrating modified components into various platforms based on customer specifications. Your job will be to lead an effort to develop component and system designs based on customer requirements and interface control documents. Your designs will comply with applicable military specifications, SAE, ANSI, ASME, and other related design and drafting standards. You will take these design elements and work with electrical and mechanical teams to develop working models for integration of these components. Upon design completion, you will be expected to support the fabrication, installation, and integration of your design. Basic Qualifications Experience with 3D parametric modeling or related design software tools Experience with Teamcenter Engineering or similar PDM/PLM software tool. Experience with creation, review, and approval of change documentation. Familiarity with SAE AS50881 and ANSI/ASME Y14.100 or related design and drafting standards.
