Candidate role shall include the efforts involved with writing, rewriting, and editing technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user/service manuals, programming manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. The candidate will also acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Experience developing, writing, editing, and assembling technical publications or procedure documents
Experience developing and updating data collection manuals, user manuals, training materials, and training databases for classroom training courses
Experience creating and editing graphic images
Previous experience supporting government client
Excellent verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Experience working in a training environment
Ability to work on a team or independently
Experience developing and monitoring distance learning is a plus
Experience documenting training database requirements, conducting user testing and documentation a plus

Clearance:

U.S. Citizenship
Must be able to obtain Public Trust

Summary of Role In this role you'll work as a member of our small, but awesome, Documentation team. Our docs team works under the umbrella of Product within Rapid7's cloud practice (DivvyCloud), closely collaborating with engineering, QA, customer support, and customer success. As a writer here you will help document releases that include new features and updates to existing content. You will contribute towards improving our existing documentation by revising content with a focus on user experience, context, best practices, and information architecture. Responsibilities * Create, revise, and maintain high-quality documentation in support of the DivvyCloud platform to include: feature overviews, configuration guides, use cases, examples, release notes, and quick-start guides. * Coordinate with SME's to understand product changes while asking questions with our users in mind. You should be able to collect and organize technical information to produce content for our product documentation. * Participate in documentation initiatives around ongoing improvements to existing content, usability, and context, internal process, and evaluating new tooling and content delivery methods. * Copyedit, review, and revise documentation written by others with an eye for maintaining consistency, clarity, and "voice". * Navigate and shift between competing priorities in a dynamic and technical environment. Requirements * 3+ years in a technical writing role with experience delivering high-quality content for complex enterprise software products. * Experience creating content from scratch that results in concise and useful product documentation targeted at a diverse audience of technical end users, developers, and infrastructure/operations engineering teams. * Experience interviewing SMEs (knowing what questions to ask and how to organize information), and building good working relationships with peers and across departments. * Strong collaboration and listening skills. Ability to learn, research, and articulate technical concepts and translate these elements into compelling user-facing product documentation. * Experience in Software Development environments. * Experience in Agile environments (sprints, release cycles, retros, etc..) * Familiarity with Markdown/rST/Org-mode or other general text markup and docs tools (Sphinx, ReadMe.io, ReadTheDocs, Flare, etc.) * Familiarity with any or all of the following: Jira, Confluence, Trello, Git, Docker, APIs etc. * Familiarity with or willingness to learn new tools, processes, and technologies.
