The City of Seattle is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Video Services Administrator (ITP B, BU) in the Seattle Information Technology's (Seattle IT) Collaboration and Workplace Technologies Division.

The Technical Video Services Administrator is responsible for researching, documenting, troubleshooting, deploying, and maintaining both standard and non-standard AV systems and service offerings for City customers. Their role involves providing subject matter expertise (SME) consultation to City customers regarding departmental AV requirements, developing customized solutions to meet client needs, and training users of varying technological abilities to effectively use standard AV technology deployed in their specific departmental spaces. This position will report to the Client Device Support Manager in the Collaboration and Workplace Technologies Division.

Key Responsibilities:

AV System Deployment and Maintenance:

  • Research, document, and troubleshoot AV systems.

  • Deploy and maintain both standard and specialized AV solutions.

  • Ensure seamless service offerings for City customers.

Consultation and Solution Development:

  • Provide expert consultation to City customers on AV requirements.

  • Develop tailored solutions to address specific client needs.

  • Train users across different skill levels to utilize AV technology effectively.

  • Handle RFQ/RFP processes, vendor communication, and installation of new remote meeting technology systems.

System Monitoring and Administration:

  • Monitor, update, track, and program installed AV systems.

  • Utilize remote administration tools for efficient system management.

Meeting Execution and Documentation:

  • Document AV-related processes and best practices.

  • Consult with stakeholders and train teams to execute remote meetings, hybrid meetings, and in-person events.

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Serve as the go-to expert for AV technology deployment, support, and maintenance.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments.

Asset Management and Training:

  • Manage AV asset inventory and document equipment lifecycle.

  • Develop training materials for effective AV technology use by end-users.

Collaboration and Process Improvement:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Continuously improve processes and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned commensurate with an Information Technology Professional - B, (ITP-B) level.

Required Qualifications:

NOTE:  Equivalent combinations of education, experience and training will be considered for the required qualifications.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience supporting AV environments used for collaboration including digital signage, video and audio conferencing.

  • Excellent research and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, handle various tasks, and adjust priorities in a fast-paced and ever-changing government technology landscape.

  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication, with the ability to customize content and delivery for specific target audiences, including strong technical and business writing skills.

  • Experience providing administrative support for Cisco Webex room systems.

  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and as well as IT networking.

  • Must be able to: lift 25#s, stand for long periods of time, take equipment on and off shelves, work around and under desks, climb flights of stairs and must be able to walk frequently for extended periods of time.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license or provide evidence of equivalent mobility in order to travel to city facilities to deliver/install equipment statewide.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years' professional IT experience; one year in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 technical staff role.

  • Associate degree or higher in media technology, computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional work experience.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in vendor management.

  • Experience and/or training as an A/V design engineer.

  • Possess industry certifications within the following areas: Crestron, AMX, Extron, BIAMP, QSC, POLYCOM, Cisco.

  • Experience with industry standards for conference room and video conferencing such as Cisco Webex, Polycom, Microsoft.

  • Project Management training/experience.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Proficiency in technical writing, coupled with the capability to work both independently and cross-functionally within a professional technical team.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience providing exceptional support to executives.

  • Ability to make sound judgments, prioritize and complete tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Additional Information:

The full salary range for this position is $45.44 - $68.20 per hour.

The salary for this individual role has been identified up to $60.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Workplace Environment (Telework Expectation): This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. At this time, hybrid telework schedules have a minimum requirement of three days onsite per week. Individual schedules will be based on operational needs and agreement between the employee and their supervisor.
