Operation Smile, headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is an international childrens medical charity with a presence in more than 60 countries, whose network of more than 5,400 medical volunteers from over 80 countries is dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children. Since its founding in 1982, Operation Smile has provided more than 220,000 free surgeries for children and young adults born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.

The technical trainer will report to the Training and Organizational Development Manager and have a dotted line reporting directly to SVP of Enterprise Applications & Technology. This position will be focused specifically on all technical training for the organization.
Confers with SVP of Enterprise Applications & Technology, management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring technical training
Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
Develops appropriate training materials and conducts training pertaining to new systems rollouts within Operation Smile.
Participates in onboarding of all new hires to introduce tools used at Operation Smile.
Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
Create microlearning pieces as follow up and just in time technical training.
Makes suggestions on improving work procedures.
Maintains trainee personnel records.
Develops strong relationships with internal customers to develop course materials and receive feedback.
Works with Operation Smile information technology staff in discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies.

Strong Technical Skills
Education and Experience
Three years of technical training experience required.
Some advanced education or working toward a degree.
Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Advanced knowledge and skills using and/or instructing the use of Microsoft Office solutions.
Working knowledge of Sharepoint.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly develop proficiency with new technology solutions to develop and deliver related training.
Ability to travel internationally on an infrequent basis with notice.
