Teacher must be physically able to lift, move, transport, construct, repair, manufacture previously mentioned materials.
Teacher must be physically able to supervise the purchase of wood supplies, materials, electrical supplies/materials and related production supplies/materials.
Teacher must be able to physically move, lift, remove, or help store such supplies/materials.
Teacher must be physically able to instruct students in the construction of sets, props, scenery and related theatre-related materials.
This involves the operation of power equipment (saws, drills, etc) and the physical construction of sets.
Teacher must be able to help students physically remove sets, scenery, props from the theatre upon the completion of a production. Teacher must be physically able to travel with students to UIL competitions (One ACT) and transports appropriate sets/props, scenery. Teacher must have a working knowledge and physical capability to instruct students in set design.
This complex portion of theatre teach involves extensive "production work" outside the school day, sometimes weekends and holidays when a production (musical) is being produced. This position usually involves 10-15 hours days. Teacher must be able to climb ladders (access the GRID) which is 150-250 feet above the stage.
The teacher must operate the stage counter-weight system which is accessible from a landing about 20-feet above the stage.
Teacher must monitor 60 to 100 students simultaneously when working on school musicals and fine arts productions. The teacher must direct "multiple groups" with "multiple questions." The Technical Theatre Teacher position is not a classroom desk position and is a working lab that involves constructions, constant monitoring of students and their projects, and climbing sets and stairs 150-250 feet above the stage.
