Summary

Technical Support Engineers help support the development of our next-generation smart farm and construction equipment and play a key role in enabling further product development. The primary role of this position is to troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and document the issues, all while providing support with excellent communication skills. This support will help keep our many types of machines fully functional and operational, with a focus on continuous improvement. The individual will support the machines and equipment from a remote (i.e. office/work from home) environment.

Tasks include but are not limited to performing root cause analysis and fixes, tracking issues and progress, and communicating with field technicians, and hardware and software engineers regularly. After an initial training period at our outdoor test site near Gilroy, CA, the work can be executed via a blend of work days in the office and remotely (work from home). Candidates must be willing to adjust schedules periodically to support day, night, and weekend operations.

Please note this is a 4-month contract position that reports to the Sr. Manager of Facilities and Test Site Operations at Blue River Technology's outdoor equipment test site near Gilroy, CA.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support multidisciplinary engineering groups by:

  • Remotely monitoring machines and equipment

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues

  • Documenting issues and solutions.

  • Communicate technical information across different groups.

  • Escalating issues as needed

  • Track recurring problems from identification to resolution.

Required Experience and Skills

  • A high level of computer literacy, including the ability to execute or learn how to use a Linux terminal, scripting, and common commands such as file search, pattern match in a file, disk space check, process monitoring, Secure Shell (SSH), secure copy, rsync.

  • Ability to learn to safely and effectively operate heavy equipment and basic power tools.

  • Quick learner with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with robotic systems

  • Strong customer support and team-oriented mindset.

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related technical area.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience with agriculture, construction, and heavy equipment.

  • Familiarity with, or exposure to, Ubuntu OS and Python.

  • Experience troubleshooting and working with complex systems involving software, electronics, and mechanical systems.

The US base hourly range for this temporary position is $25.00 to $45.00 per hour.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
