SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Nights


Provides technical assistance with Personal Computers and networking environment within Jackson Hospital; Installs, maintains and supports Personal Computers.


Responsible for the PC and Network Environment. Installs, maintains and supports the PC Network Environment.

Monitors the network operating system to maintain a productive environment. Assists in the development of PC and Network standards along with the maintenance of user profiles. Communicates the resolution of hardware and software problems to the user in a professional manner.

Maintains records of software licenses and hardware inventory for Information Systems Management. Participates in the departmental on call rotation, returning calls within 15 minutes and performing corrective actions as necessary. Provides monthly activity report to Team Leader, Infrastructure each month.

Provides training of PC technicians as needed. Assists and takes initiative in handling issues of a non-routine nature and performs other duties as assigned.


Education: Technical school degree in PC, hardware/software trouble shooting:

Formal classes in Network and communication preferred. 2 4 years Networked PC support. Network experience preferred. Hands on with Personal Computers a must.

Experience with these systems a plus: Microsoft SQL, Oracle, AIX, Linux, PowerShell, Vbscript, Microsoft Server, and Active Directory.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify the source of operating problems, including hardware and software aspects for personal computers systems; analyze and assess the nature and degree of the problem and implement or recommend corrective action. Maintain, modify, and assist in personal computer network configurations and interfacing. Assist in the analysis and evaluation of vendor supplied software and hardware products; assist in or coordinate the acquisition, installation and application of vendor products. Provide consultation and technical assistance to department customers in the selection, operation, and maintenance of personal computers; serve as. Assist in the preparation and recommendation of standards for the use of personal computer system resources. Be a resource for particularly difficult customer service situations. Actively seek process improvements with the end goal being improved customer satisfaction. Perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred. Formal courses in Network and Communication Technology desired. 5 years of computer and network troubleshooting. CompTia A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Identify, analyze, and assess personal computer and network administration problems and take appropriate corrective action. Observe and problem-solve operational and technical deficiencies. Analyze and evaluate software and hardware products and upgrades. Assist in establishing standards for personal computer system resources. Explain technical concepts in non-technical terminology and train others in the operation and application of personal computer systems. Use various hand tools and testing equipment in repair, adjustment, or problem identification of personal computers and related equipment. Tactfully and skillfully deal with irate customers. Provide solutions and communication for customer service problems in a satisfactory and fair manner while observing hospital policies and departmental guidelines. Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to utilize a desktop or laptop computer screen with small type. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; verbal communication and auditory abilities to communicate with a multitude of customers.
