Job Description:
The historic FAFSA changes for Financial Aid for 2024-25 have created a critical need for help to process forms and awards for the upcoming academic year. This position will be required to work in the Financial Aid Office and does not permit remote work. Persons in this role will have some contact with students and parents as they answer questions and assist them in navigating the new rules and award structure.
It is anticipated this position will be needed until the end of June but the position need could be extended further.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalency with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a high paced customer service-related environment where multi-tasking is necessary.
Advance degrees in lieu of experience will be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior Financial Aid Experience.
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of best practices in customer service.
Ability to learn about and use the tools necessary to support the financial aid needs of students.
Ability to work independently in an effective and efficient way.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Demonstrated skill and ability with technology, including software applications.
Ability to effectively work with others to create a welcoming and supportive environment for students.
Ability to work efficiently in a high demand, team-oriented, and fast paced environment.
Additional Information:
The rate of pay is $25/hour. There is the benefit of joining the NYS Retirement System.
Anticipated schedule is 20 hours per week, M-F, 10 am -2 pm.
