To pursue large, digitally transformative wins, we are looking for a Business Development Manager for a leadership position within our Federal team. The Business Development Manager should drive the business Strategy for creating and taking markets and capturing large transformation deals from business development through proposal and the award stages of the sales cycle.

Requirements (Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required):

7+ years of related experience:

  • 5+ Years of work with the Federal, State or Local Governments, Healthcare, Financial Services and Regulated Industries

  • Proven success in solution sales leadership and/or management roles.

  • Solution sales for a business applications and/or SaaS-based company or similar technology.

  • Solution leader of complex business application deals requiring orchestration of large, dispersed, virtual teams composed of industry and solution team members.

  • Driving solutions sales best practices including but not limited to; discovery, building and crafting solution strategies that differentiate from the competition, value-based selling and challenging our with creative and innovative solutions.

  • Successful track record of competitive displacement.

  • Documented track record of leadership, team development, and business success.

  • Ability to drive and influence stakeholders across organizational boundaries through strong negotiation, organizational, presentation, envisioning, writing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build a healthy pipeline of top tier pre-sales talent.

  • Experienced in developing and retaining a high performing team through continuous coaching, empowering your team and holding them accountable.

  • Ability to identify new market and business trends to serve as the customer's voice into Microsoft.

  • Experience inspiring others through leadership, personal influence, and status as a role model based on consultative and value-based selling.

  • Proven track record in prioritization and orchestration of resources for complex customer digital transformation engagements.

Deep understanding of:

  • Business application solutions and how these solutions help our customers achieve their desired business outcomes.

  • Commercial cloud offerings, ideally Microsoft's cloud platform as well as competitive knowledge of other business applications and related ecosystems.

  • Customer facing business processes in one or more industries such as Healthcare, Public Sector and Defense.

  • Business value selling methodologies and practices that successfully convey the value and business outcomes the proposed solution will deliver.

  • How to uncover customer's stated and unstated needs and how technology can be leveraged to solve business problems.

  • The security, regulatory and compliance needs of global customers in cloud or hybrid scenarios

Cloud Screening: Candidates must be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis

Our Mission: Air Products will be the safest, most diverse, and most profitable gas company in the world, providing excellent service to our customers. Responsibilities include new business signings and technical sales of gases, technology and equipment to the Aluminum, other non-ferrous, Foundry, Cement, Lime and Pulp and Paper industries. The role also provides guidance to our applied research group for new offering development using the candidate's understanding of current and future industry processes and environmental issues. The job requires 30-40% travel to customer sites in the US and Canada, contacting customers/prospects, making presentations and proposals, working with Air Products' liquid-bulk and on-site sales teams, to sell liquefied industrial gases (oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, argon, etc.) and large on-site plants. Other aspects of the role include resolving customer technical challenges, helping customers improve their operations, efficiency, and safety. This specialist is involved from the initial contact, all the way through startup and customer retention. This is a very exciting and multifaceted position, where no two days are the same. Principal accountabilities: * Develop and advance the current opportunity pipeline for this segment in support of growth objectives * Identify and develop new prospects for industrial gas usage and equipment/ technology sales in the target industries. Focus on prospects operating in growth markets and with solid cost positions, in geographies of priority for Air Products (AP) * Audit prospects and customer processes to identify new or more efficient usage of industrial gases * Engage with sub-regional marketing, segment marketing and lead generation in order to develop a broader opportunity pipeline in regions and applications of importance to Air Products. * Develop the scope and support the execution of AP technology demonstrations in the field, proving the benefits of industrial gases in customer processes such as melting, extrusion, blanketing and heating operations, working side by side with customer operations staff during trials and start-ups * Identify the economic benefits of Air Products' technologies regarding production increase, enhanced product quality, ability to use lower cost raw materials, fuel savings, reduced emissions, etc., developing the business case for the customer operation and guiding Air Products pricing strategies * Bring feedback from the field on industry needs (economic, regulatory, process flexibility, etc.) to our industry segment and marketing managers and advanced technology and equipment engineering teams, in order to guide the development of new applications; engage with this broader team from cradle-to-grave in order to deploy and promote successful AP technology in the field, including developing beta site candidates and commercial terms that will lead to solid reference accounts for AP differentiated offerings * Engage in significant trade associations, technical organizations, major conferences, and local trade shows in priority geographies, etc., with the objective of learning, presenting technical papers, promoting technology, supporting marketing efforts, networking, leading committees, and developing a reputation for him/herself and AP as technical leaders. * Work with customers and internal groups in advanced technology, computational modeling and marketing to develop technical papers and marketing materials that showcase modeling or lab/field demonstration of AP offerings * Engage external partners to provide full solutions to the customer, as applicable * Effectively use our Customer Relationship Management system to capture key account information related to customer industry, processes and applications, as well as critical developments as the account progresses through the sales cycle Qualifications/education: * Undergraduate technical degree required, preferably Engineering * Undergraduate business degree or MBA a plus * Willing to take initiative and work proactively, both internally and externally * Multi-year experience in the non-ferrous and/or minerals industries * Ideal candidates will have solid understanding of non-ferrous melting applications, foundry cupolas, pulp and paper processes, and cement/lime kilns.
