ABB's instrumentation product line includes instruments used for flow measurements in industrial process. Our product line is the most complete on the market and includes Electromagnetic, Swirl and Vortex, Coriolis, Differential Pressure, Variable Area and Thermal Mass technologies. Our customer base consist of Water and Waste Water, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Fine Chemicals, Power Generation, Food & Beverage and Pulp & Paper industries, servicing end users,

engineering firms, system integrators and OEMs.

ABB Inc., is currently seeking a Technical Sales Support Specialist for its locat ion at Warminster, Pennsylvania. The primary function is to provide assistance to our customer base and sales channels to aid in the use of our flow products in

their application. The responsibilities include providing application and post sale support via. phone and/or other electronic

communication methods . As part of a team, you will be the first line technical support for our customers and sales force.

You will work closely with our Customer Support, Product Management, and Engineering Groups. Very light travel to our customer sites may be required.

Your responsibilities

  • Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Assist customers and sales representatives with ABB flow instrumentation product selection and application.


  • Provide post-sales product support and troubleshooting services to end-users mainly via. phone, e-mail, or instant messaging.


  • Develop application notes, technical bulletins and other tools for common troubleshooting, selection and application of flow products.


  • Participate in the development and presentation of technical product training sessions, share specific installation and application knowledge throughout the organization.


  • Provide feedback and customer inquiry related statistics to internal Quality and Product Management groups.


  • Participate in the review and development of product instruction manual s and sales literature.

  • Communicate with other ABB Application Engineers (US and global), share best practices and expand the technical knowledge base.


  • Assist our customers and sales representatives by phone, email, or instant messaging with the application, and optimum product selection of ABB's flow instrumentation.


  • Provide post-sales product support and troubleshooting services to end-users via phone, e-mail, or instant messaging via the ABB Warminster PA center .


  • Develop application notes, technical bulletins, and other tools to allow others solve common product troubleshooting or proper selection issues.


  • Participate in the development and presentation of technical product training sessions to share specific installation and application knowledge throughout the organization.


  • Provide feedback to internal Quality and Product Management groups regarding the frequency and nature of the incoming inquires.


  • Participate in the review and development of product instruction manuals.


  • Communicate with other ABB Application Engineers (US and global) to share best practices and expand the technical knowledge base.


Your background


  • Basic Qualifications: Four year accredited degree and 2 years of related work experience with Instrumentation or process control related products. .. else 4 years of same experience with AS degree .. else 6 years of same experience with HS or GED equivalence .


  • Preferred Qualifications: BS degree in an Engineering or similar technical field with 3+ years experience in product sales, service and application of industrial instrumentation used in fluid flow measurement, industrial automation and/or process analytics.

  • Knowledge of industrial process control, process measurements, and/or general instrumentation background would be helpful.

  • Experience troubleshooting products over the phone with customers is a plus.

  • An understanding of or experience servicing our primary customer's production processes is desirable (Water and Waste Water, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Fine Chemicals, Power Generation, Food & Beverage, and Pulp & Paper)

  • Candidate with work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States without future visa assistance.

The Opportunity: We are seeking a Technical Communications Specialist II to be located in Rochester, NY. This person will produce technical written communications used for projects assigned to department. Projects may include marketing tools, technical manuals, and presentations. May participate in special projects. The Responsibilities: * Responsible for field and customer technical communications. Researches, creates, updates, and edits technical communications and documentation that explain Ortho products to customers and to Ortho technical support personnel, service personnel, and field support staff worldwide. * Acquires or verifies knowledge of subject by consulting with subject matter experts, observing the performance of the product, or referring to articles, bulletins, manuals, or similar publications. * Writes in a clear, concise, audience-appropriate manner, being mindful of writing for translation. * Manages the review and approval process. Works toward achieving consensus between multiple reviewers/subject matter experts for document approval in a timely manner using live meetings or internet meeting applications such as Webex. * Tracks the production and delivery of the communications and documentation according to predetermined schedules. * Maintains appropriate supporting documentation according to government regulatory requirements and Ortho records management guidelines. Must be audit ready at all times. * Participates on project teams. Must be a proven team player and self-motivated. The Individual: * Associates Degree in Medical Technology, Technical Writing or Communications or equivalent experience. * A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required. * Excellent written and verbal communications skills. * Strong attention to detail. * Skillful problem solver with investigative talents. Independent, resourceful. * Excellent computer skills. Experience with word-processing software such as Microsoft Word, and adaptability to use of multiple workload, content management, and other software applications. * Knowledge of Ortho products and business processes is a plus * Experience in implementation of new products or product changes/updates a plus. * Previous clinical laboratory experience, customer support or technical support a plus * Strong organizational skills * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Ability to prioritize workload with minimal supervision * Ability to work under tight deadlines. * High level of professionalism. * Ability to represent the Publications & Communications department on cross functional teams and facilitate meetings. * Ability to interact with upper levels of management. #LI-KS1 For this position we will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
