Generac Power Systems Join the leader in the power industry! Our Commercial and Industrial Division is seeking a Power Solutions Manager.

SUMMARY :The Power Solutions Manager is responsible for the promotion and technical sales support of Generac Industrial products with a focus on the Modular Power System and large kW solutions ensuing vertical market project completion. This role assists Regional Sales Managers and Distributors on specific projects and works directly with key electrical engineering and construction firms to achieve a Generac product being specified and sourced. The Power Solutions Manager conducts training seminars for the electrical engineering community utilizing a pre-package curriculum.



  • Identifies key engineering firms and develops strategy to meet, educate and convince them to design the generator and transfer switch specifically around Generac or will accept Generac as "equal."

  • Identifies, educates and transforms key engineering firms in understanding the MPS paralleling concepts and the value of working with Generac and the Distributor.

  • Promotes and provides technical onsite and remote sales support of Generac Industrial products with focus on the Modular Power System solution.

  • Assists Regional Sales Managers and Distributors on specific projects and works directly with key electrical engineering and construction firms to achieve a Generac product being specified and sourced.

  • Develops competitive analyses.

  • Provides input into training curriculum.

  • Directs the sales tools to strategically develop their respective geographical region and Distributor (e.g., PDSS, the PTT Truck, Fly-ins, customer visits, Engineering Symposium and Power Design Pro).



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;

  • 5-10 years' progressive experience in technical sales/sales support with specific experience in power generation and engine generator paralleling experience;

  • Valid Driver's license and the ability to travel up to 75%;


  • Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree;

  • Able to work from a home office;

  • Knowldege of SAP.


  • Ability to review, understand, edit, communicate and promote AC and DC electrical one-line diagrams related to onsite standby engine-generator sets

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated presentation skills and ability to speak in front of groups; ability to communicate at executive level as well as plant operational level;

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

This role is responsible to manage the targeting and strategic selling of ABB Pressure, Temperature, and Recording & Controllers into all industries and in all the U.S. regions. Drive and implement sales activities directly with the customer and indirectly through ABB channel partners. Train channel partners and customers on ABB P, L, R/C products. Work with key external influencers to educate, inform and solicit support for ABB products. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and continuously drive segment performance. Your responsibilities * Targets - Responsible for achieving key business targets (i.e. orders received, margins, and mix) by working directly with customers and indirectly through ABB channel partners. * Strategy -Review targeted segment(s)/customers and implement strategies with region or customer specific actions and channel partner specific sales activities. Follow-up with partners and customers to drive orders to a close. * Projects – Support the Instrumentation business in the planning and execution of identified strategic projects pursuits to the End-users, EPCs, OEMs, and integrators. Extensive use of project tracking tools and CRM (Sales Force) for planning and tracking project pursuits as well as driving and monitoring project pursuit activities through channel partners. * Market Analysis -Monitor market trends and recommend adjustments to strategic plans and project pursuits accordingly to meet the changing market conditions and competitive landscape. Provides appropriate market information for mid to long-term decision making. * Communication - Communicates the ABB value proposition (internally and externally) and support the local channel partners and ABB sales organization to have an effective understanding of our target and objectives. Creates and implements the communication, promotion, and training activities for sales channels and end-users. * Networking - Participates in industry relevant professional organizations and present technical papers at events. Help develop standards and regulations by influencing the appropriate bodies (including government, legislative bodies, technical and trade associations). * Account Management - Ensures that identified target accounts are pursued and prioritized. Creates and implements strategic account penetration plans. May take ownership of one or more major accounts. * Customer Relationship - Builds and maintains strong relationships with identified key accounts and customers. Follow ABB's performance in fulfilling their needs and communicate deficiencies and/or opportunities to the respective Business Units/Product Groups. * Contracts - Works closely with the relevant Sales organization and channel partners to help in the identification and capture of future business. Identify and pursue acceptance of ABB Measurement products on customer approved vendor list(s). * Reporting - Reports by segment to accurately measure progress and uses common tools to identify future opportunities. Your background * Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years experience in sales or channel management experience. * Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US. * Masters in business administration or Engineering in related field a plus. * Prior R&C ( Recorders and Controllers) experience desired. * Senior level sales and application experience with industrial instrumentation including but not limited to various Pressure, Temperature, and/or Recorders & Controllers. * Willingness to learn and expand product knowledge base along with a passion for success. * Ability to work autonomously and maintain good time / activity management skills. * Strong presentation and communication skills.
