Technical & Safety Instructor

The Technical Training Center (TTC) operates much like a college. We offer technical and safety courses to employees. Our instructors are trained to offer certain classes. As new courses are developed our trainers go through a "train the trainer" program in order to get certified to train a course. Most of our courses are offered in Portland, Oregon but in some cases, our instructors have to travel in order to get training themselves or to provide a class to a site that cannot travel. We are part of the Global Vestas organization and work with other Vestas TTCs.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver training to Vestas technicians and customers on Vestas products and safety programs

• Ensure all participants meet all learning milestones in Course & Module Outlines during course delivery

• With limited to no supervision supervise classroom presentations and simulator lab exercises of 6-8 students to ensure safe and effective learning environment for all participants

• Travel as required to deliver training to customers and Vestas technicians, often in live wind turbines

• Continuously develop new competencies and knowledge on Vestas products, policies, and procedures to support training demand

• Supports training administration by providing necessary reports for training completion.

• Supports ongoing development and improvement of Vestas technical and safety courses.

• Maintains personal development timelines in order to teach new courses.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in a technical discipline, military training, or a combination of technical education and experience on wind turbines or similar equipment.

• 2-5 years of experience in operations and maintenance on wind turbines or similar equipment

• 2-5 years of experience delivering formal training programs for adult learners in safety or technical discipline

• Ability to work with limited to no supervision.

• Ability to work in a team environment, regularly consulting with other knowledgeable experts in order to present the most accurate and up-to-date information to class participants.

• Good ability to plan and organize in a classroom environment to ensure course outlines and milestones are met.

• High level of ability to verbally communicate complex concepts to a variety of people during a classroom or hands-on presentation, including assessing and checking for understanding.

• High level of knowledge on Vestas policies and procedures relating to service technician job requirements.

• Solid focus on safe work methods in wind turbine setting; ability to influence cultural change within participants regarding their views on safe work.

• High level of knowledge on wind turbines, software interfaces, work processes, use of equipment and tools, and safe work methods for work on wind turbines.

• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products, including PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

• Able to communicate in English.

• Will be required to work and conduct training in wind turbines, climb >250ft, access confined spaces, and work at heights.

• Travel less than 15%

• Possess a valid driver's license

• Able to obtain a passport and visa if required

• Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms.

• Regular & high-quality attendance.

• Ability to travel as needed

• Ability to work and conduct training in wind turbines, climb >250ft, access confined spaces, and work at heights
