As an SNI Intern, you can expect true, hands-on experience that includes contributing to warehouse projects that will have a direct impact on business results.

As a Technical Research Intern you will:

  • Evaluate existing operation for MAP packing and Vacuum sealing product in both 50 pound cases and smaller lab sample volumes.

  • Review/Modify the existing SOP's related to this function after identifying the critical drivers of repeatability in this process (nitrogen level, pressure, amount of nitrogen added, oxygen sensor to ensure 02 is displaced, leak tests to ensure packaging is sealed, etc.).

  • Conduct an Asta degradation study on MAP packed and Vacuum sealed paprika. Goal is to determine the rate of Asta degradation over a 12-week period in MAP and Vacuum sealed packaging to help determine appropriate shelf-life in these conditions.

Education and experience:

  • Currently working on completion of a Bachelor's degree in related field and is currently a junior or senior in credit hours

  • Microsoft Office savvy specifically Excel

  • Prior experience working in a laboratory environment preferred

  • Attention to Detail

  • Highly Organized

As a Warehouse Intern you will: * Measure each internal and external SNI warehouse and use drafting software to create an official warehouse map, including all row and rack locations. * Calculate warehouse capacity in terms of volume, pallet positions and weight based on existing types of products and packaging used. * Calculate utilization rate of each type of warehouse and make recommendation on storage improvements (i.e. bulk packaging, additional racking, etc). Calculate initial investment of improvements, maintenance, reduced spend and efficiency savings to determine ROI. * Gather working knowledge of SXT warehouse management systems and make recommendation on applicable systems based on SNI needs. * Study warehouse scanning platforms and determine most feasible form of incorporating scanning infrastructure at each row location. * Present to management team warehousing best practices and areas for improvement based on training and observations during internship.
