We are seeking a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects in a hands-on, high-visibility role that requires technical expertise and cross-functional responsibility.
As a TPM, you must exhibit excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills, and foster open communication across project teams. You will organize and oversee projects from inception to completion, coordinating activities across teams to meet both business and technical objectives. Business needs can change rapidly, you'll need to stay connected with both internal and external dependencies to ensure high-quality and on-time delivery. In this role, you will work with engineering, operations, corporate, security, and business teams to define project strategy and requirements, manage project metrics, and ensure consistency across the program. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of our technology, effectively communicate its functionality, and possess the technical depth necessary for success in this role, while also demonstrating a strong commitment to productivity, automation, and innovative thinking for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Directs large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple matrix partners
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, proactively ensuring that teams are "in sync" in terms of communication, schedules, issues, etc.
Manages mostly high-priority projects in terms of complexity, risk, and/or business criticality while managing multiple projects simultaneously, juggling activities, and prioritizing accordingly
Identifies, mitigates, prioritizes, manages, and resolves project issues, constraints, dependencies and risks
Creates and manages the overall plan/roadmap, including all project tasks, dependencies, and critical paths
Champions and serves as a key contributor to the continuous improvement of PM best practices, using innovative ideas to increase the effectiveness of the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
8+ years of project management experience in a technical environment, managing large-scale projects, and program management
Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Outstanding leadership skills and experience leading cross-functional teams and ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
Exceptional written and oral communication skills; effectively communicating to business leaders, able to work with business, engineering, infrastructure, operations, Corporate and information Security
Proficiency in using ServiceNow and Tableau for project management and data analysis
Possess a deep understanding of technical projects and associated dependencies, able to gauge severity of technical issues
Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; motivate teams; resolve conflict; execute with limited information and ambiguity
Comfortable juggling competing priorities and handling ambiguity. Thrives in an agile and fast-paced environment on highly visible projects and initiatives
PMP, Agile, or similar certification preferred
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule
The pay range is $120,500 - $163,100.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
