Technical Project Manager III - System Prototyping

Blue Origin Space Coast , FL 33487

Posted 6 days ago

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

Technical Project Managers are accountable for engineering-based Projects, managing engineering project components (from design to delivery), and have engineering qualifications to ensure the highest design and safety standards. Project Managers are the owner of a specific project or the integration of multiple projects. Their role is more specific in scope than that of the Program Manager. The project manager is responsible for the successful completion of their part of the larger program. They keep team members on task, by supporting, communicating, and coordinating activities between supporting organizations involved on the project. They are also actively involved in schedule and risk reviews and ensuring project milestones/ deliverables are achieved on time and on budget. Project Managers support the planning of work packages and corresponding resource requirements and composition of the work breakdown structure (WBS). Project management uses processes, skills, tools, and knowledge to complete a planned project and achieve its goals. It differs from general management because of the limited scope of a project, concrete deadlines, and specific deliverables.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse cross functional development groups, you will take on a variety of logistical coordination efforts and process development for various spaceflight development projects and ground support systems. Do you embrace rapid development and thrive in a creative startup environment? Come join the System Prototyping team. As a System Prototyping Technical Project Manager, you will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and technical leads to optimize materials and processes. You will provide ongoing support to existing projects at multiple project development sites and support coordination activities, execution of all program material strategies, supply chain objectives, and enterprise objectives. You will work closely with other Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance groups to achieve material availability requirements to meet development program schedules. Foundationally, you will be responsible for establishing relations with the programs, assessing program needs, and providing regular schedule projections.
