Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it.The role has wide ranging responsibilities covering all technical and quality support of Process chemicals and Epoxies, used to make ICs and a wide range of innovative semiconductor modules, such as cameras, optical sensors and sensing devices. The role can be based in any location worldwide. Since responsibility is for a range of factories in various countries, frequent and flexible travel is required. This person will be an operational technical expert for a range of epoxies and process chemicals and will have a full understanding of the design and function of those products; the manufacturing process, test and iPQC control; the quality control and Failure analysis of the products. They will manage and support ramp readiness and troubleshoot all issues that impact volume and quality in mass production
More than 5 years of working experience. Ideally in the process chemical or epoxy industry, working on applications, manufacturing, quality or metrology.Knowledge of working with customers in the semiconductor industry is an advantage.Incumbent should have track record of technical excellence and interaction with vendors.Fluent English with excellent written communication, good management presentation skills, and ability to comprehend and articulate complex technical issues and the resulting impact to supply.
Willing to travel outside of designated country. This could reach 50% on peak demand period.Able to work under time pressure and adaptable to flex work hours for international conference calls. Systematic and organized approach in problem solving and data analysis
Knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry is mandatory
NPI:o Collaborate with R&D / Engineering / Supply Management team for timely deployment of new projectso Manage product ramp blockers and design for manufacturability, for the materials, the processes and the equipment during the NPI phase. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for timely corrective actions through each build to intercept the ramp. o On-site reviews for ramp readiness.
This can include raw material suppliers, equipment, and module assembly sites.o Develop Process Control Plans (PCP), Critical to Quality metrics (CTQ) and traceability systems for high risk new developments. o Ensure vendor Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Statistical Process Control systems ( SPC) and Networked equipment control ( CIM ) are appropriate to maintain a high level of quality control and low supply risk.o Ensure retained data and samples allows fast debug of issues.o Establish regular reliability testing.o Develop appropriate shipping packing and methods and document.o Project manage new manufacturing equipment or techniqueso Verify that all planning assumptions are realistic to achieve the capacity target. Agree targets.o Identify, prioritize and mitigate key technical risks associated with a product to enable the quality ramp of a product. o Conduct factory readiness review for engineering builds, pilot runs and mass production
Ramp and Mass Production:o Participate in product engineering meetings and take the lead to resolve any module integrator quantity or quality problems. Communicate the status clearly. o Liaise with Global Supplier Management, Engineering, Module Supplier Quality Engineers, and module Technical Program Managers.
Take the lead to resolve technical issues blocking capacity and quality stability.o Run yield improvement programs and collaborate with Cupertino engineering. o Manage post-ramp qualification of new material, process and specification changes.o Work with Cross functional teams on issues and the resultant key learnings. Fan out Best Known Methods (BKM) to all Epoxy and process chemical suppliers.o Cross audit the manufacturing sites and ensure BKM fan-out and sharing. Activities specific for Epoxies and Process Chemicals:o Keep a master list of all POR materials and a manufacturing risk assessment for eacho Identify new, unique or difficult materials that require special qualification each yearo Run the qualification plans for new materialso Understand the BOM, subcomponent sources and make a manufacturing risk assessment of each. Ensure each multiple source or config is qualified in engineering buildso Ensure that materials are 100% POR in EVT buildso Organize multi lot qualification at the user levelo Organize corner lots for user process sensitivity analysis and process window validationo Conduct factory audits and qualificationo Contribute DFM on material selection
