Facebook is seeking a Technical Program Manager, Hardware Storage and Compute intern to join our Hardware team. We are looking for someone that shares our passion for tackling complexity head-on, to help build platforms that can scale through multiple orders of magnitude.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role within infrastructure engineering, driving huge projects that span the organization. This TPM intern will collaborate with our global data centers, hardware design, networking, software engineering, and product teams on strategic planning, and deployments from inception to full production. Facebook's infrastructure is constantly redefining what is possible, and we need program managers that can do the same. This full time internship position is based in our main office in Menlo Park and will report to the Group Technical Program Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to work with others on cross-functional site infrastructure projects in a matrix organization covering a range of areas (Datacenter, Network, Hardware Systems, Infrastructure Software Engineering, Capacity Management).

Help provide hands on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.

Perform risk management and chance management on projects.

Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks.

Help drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions.

Deep passion for technical details and understanding Facebook's mission in connecting the world.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.

Knowledge of Networking Engineering and/or Data Center Operations, Systems, or Networking experience a plus.

Good understanding of computer architecture

Working knowledge of Project and Program Management skills and Project Management tools.

Strong organizational and coordination skills along with multitasking capabilities to get things done in a fast paced environment.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team

Strong communication skills.

Preferred experience/skills:

  • Experience working with ODM's and other vendors is a plus.

Experience with x86 and/or ARM architecture.

Experience in hardware systems interfaces and protocols, such as SAS and SATA.

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op

The Technical Program Manager (TPM) will be solving complex challenges in the Infrastructure Engineering organization that support the Facebook family of applications by driving cross-functional development of Storage hardware in the Large BLOB space. This is a full-time position based in our main office in Menlo Park and will report to the Group Technical Program Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES * Drive engineering decisions and priorities to ensure that software and hardware teams are solving the most impactful problems. Work with internal customers to identify product requirements. Drive storage roadmap and strategy decisions to align with Facebook-wide initiatives. Develop and manage hardware product and solutions end-to-end, and ensure on-time delivery. Provide hands-on program management during analysis, planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and deployment into Facebook's Data Centers around the world. Manage cross-functional infrastructure projects covering a range of areas (Applications, Data Center, Network, Hardware Systems, Infrastructure Software Engineering, Capacity Management). Provide engineering assessments and risk analysis for hardware and software designs. Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions. Interface with Engineering and business owners for project and product requirements and scope. Analyze infrastructure needs and produce hardware designs and prototypes to meet those needs. Provide engineering assessments and risk analysis for hardware designs. Manage and drive strategic vendor engagement and deliveries. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience supporting Hardware Engineering teams. 6+ years of experience in Program Management and/or Product Management. Experience in hardware project life cycle management. Experience with managing projects similar to systems hardware design. Experience in hardware systems interfaces and protocols, such as PCIE, SAS, and SATA. Knowledge of enterprise storage systems, and/or HDD storage component. Working knowledge of Project Management tools. Experience understanding application requirements and translating needs into roadmap and capacity plans. Organizational and coordination experience. Cross-functional leadership experience. Interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within cross-functional team. Demonstrated experience managing programs from technical details to the big picture. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience in storage applications, such as Hadoop or Object Storage. Experience with data center architecture and deployment. Experience working with ODM's and other vendors. Web or Internet start-up environment and technical infrastructure management experience. 4+ years of Hardware Systems Design experience. Project Management Certification (PMP).
