Technical Product Owner - Central Services / Data Services

As a Technical Product Owner in the Global Services team, you will be responsible for setting the product direction for Central Services (CS) and Data Services (DS) across the Macmillan Learning portfolio, supporting the needs of multiple product & platform engineering teams, and collaborating across product and engineering stakeholders to deliver on customer and internal business needs.

The ideal candidate is expected to:

  • Work with Architecture and Engineering Leadership to determine Technology Strategy for core APIs and services, as well as global data infrastructure and services

  • Partner with product and data science leaders to prioritize and negotiate backlogs and sequencing

  • Support the CS and DS engineering teams in aligning on scope and acceptance criteria

  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters to ensure on time and budget delivery

  • Work with product and technical leadership in both strategic and cycle planning

  • Managing complexity across multiple technical subdomains to ensure successful business outcomes

Job Description:

  • Define product requirements and lead successful execution of initiatives

  • Engage closely with engineering and architecture in Agile methodology to help determine a high quality technical design while balancing timing and resource constraints.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams at Macmillan Learning to design, build, launch, and market new Services, APIs, and Application

  • Lead cost benefit analysis and partner with architecture on determining buy vs build decisions

  • Define and proactively monitor key performance metrics to support and inform product decisions.

  • Engage in problem solving with analytics to determine trends and root causes.

  • Nurture a strong team culture of ownership, autonomy, and developer citizenship

  • Partner with Customer Support teams in solving pain points for our users.

  • Partner with Operations and Security teams to ensure the products we deliver meet or exceed compliance requirements

  • Oversee quality assurance and acceptance testing

Minimum Required Skills/

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.

  • 5+ years of experience dealing with technical problem solutions as a product manager.

  • Proven track record for building, launching, and maintaining successful products.

  • Work in technical sub-domains desired: e.g. Social Analytics, Bioinformatics, R&D, Middleware, Distributed Computing, Data Analytics, Machine Learning
