Technical Product Manager

We are looking for a high-energy, proven, Technical Product Manager (TPM) for our LMS team. Specifically, the TPM partners with business unit product managers in the design, development and implementation of digital learning solutions. The TPM leads Agile development team(s) and is responsible for driving the successful delivery of the platform in support of new products and new product versions. The TPM is responsible for helping the team to define, manage, and implement innovative digital products and product lines that are uniquely responsive to both market demands and the needs of students, instructors and higher education institutions.

Our Digital Platform Group is a world-class education tech team utilizing state-of-the-art technologies to deliver intuitive learning experiences. DPG builds data-driven digital products that enhance teaching and improve learning outcomes.

The team also conducts research and development targeted at new market opportunities in the quickly evolving education technology space.

Your contribution to the team includes:

  • Be the conscience of the product, continuously looking at the product from the end-user's perspective; driving the complete experience, software and content, to best outcome possible for the end-user. Ensure the customer experience is represented as a top priority throughout all stages of development.

  • Draft project charters, requirements, Agile epics and stories, with prioritized features and specifications, while incorporating inputs from all stakeholders. Ensure release goals and commitments are understood by all affected teams.

  • Partner with Program Managers and Engineering Leadership to ensure a manageable scope that can be delivered on-time, on-budget, on-quality. Oversee the care and feeding of the platform, ensure all aspects of the platform receive attention, including technical debt and infrastructure as well as new features. Results of this work are communicated via the quarterly plan.

  • Own and drive the platform roadmap. Partner with the business product managers to develop a vision, strategy and prioritized feature backlog for digital product(s)/platform. Ensure cohesion across all product lines on their platform.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in leading Agile- based, software product development teams. Agile Scrum certified preferred.

  • Proven management experience. The TPM is typically responsible for 1-3 Agile teams. Each team consists of 5-10 members per team.

  • Experience working with cross functional teams globally.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Develop, measure and communicate product, pricing, sales and underwriting strategies to field and home office underwriters. * Provide recommended direction to Senior Management to balance growth, risk and profitability. Maintain current and thorough knowledge of current legal trends, market conditions and claim experience. * Collaborate with Underwriting, Claim, Actuarial, Legal, Public Relations, Regulatory and Product Development to maintain the highest standards of profitability, marketability and regulatory compliance. * Lead growth strategies, with Business Unit collaboration, and report on progress to management. Capitalize on technology and third party data resources to profitably and efficiently grow the business. Technical: * Develop and amend product, coverage and underwriting strategies. Collaborate with management and others to gain buy in and effective implementation. * Provide support and direction to underwriters in their decision making relative to Public Company D&O accounts and programs. Provide industry, legal and regulatory updates to underwriters, senior management, Claim and others. Marketing / Communication / Customer Service: * Proactive and collaborative communications and the ability to meet tight timeframes. * Capitalize on media opportunities including authorship of press releases, white papers, interviews, etc. * Participate in producer and industry functions as a foremost Travelers, and industry, expert in the Public Company D&O product line. Training * Develop training content around coverage, marketing and underwriting for underwriters, particularly newer hires. Leverage mass-communication technologies to effectively connect with internal and external audiences. * Continually deliver Public Company D&O product and industry updates. * Collaborate with Business Units to support their growth strategies and achievement of financial objectives within a highly competitive marketplace. Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies * Ability to analyze complex issues, legal and financial exposures and work with underwriters to develop solutions. * Thorough understanding of underwriting and coverage issues within the Public D&O marketplace. * Ability to provide clear verbal and written communications. * Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and collaborative communication style. * Work well independently while maintaining team rapport and proactive and communication with management and others. . Job Summary Lead and manage all aspects of the Public Company Directors & Officers (D&O) product line within Travelers Bond & Specialty Insurance. Develop and communicate product line strategies, support Business Units in achieving budgeted financial results and increase market penetration. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 7 years insurance, legal, or claim experience with preference toward management liability insurance products and focus on Public Company D&O or related product lines; demonstrated ability to execute, communicate and direct strategy.
