What You'll Do

The Data Center Business Unit is looking for an experienced, high-energy Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) to drive our strategy and customer engagement around SDN, automation, Open NXOS, Nexus 9000, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), systems that integrate including hypervisors from VMware, Microsoft, KVM, and Xen, as well as integrating with OpenStack and Linux containers. The right candidate will have an opportunity to set internal product direction as well as work closely with critical customers and partners as they design next generation cloud architecture.

Who You'll Work With

Our team is responsible for driving integration of the Nexus 9000 and ACI with open source software, including OpenStack, Docker, and Open vSwitch, to help our customers build multitenant clouds. The TME will be opportunity to drive field and customer engagement, be involved in the upstream open source community, and influence overall product strategy based on customer feedback. While routing, switching feature set product management will be the primary area of focus, there will be opportunity to help develop solutions around emerging architectures, technologies within the data center space, in fact it will be encouraged to look for new ways and solutions to respond and address our customer needs in a creative way.

Who You Are

A Technical Marketing Engineer is focused on driving solutions and business requirements with customers, the field, and business unit resources supporting the Nexus 3000, Nexus 9000, ACI, Nexus Data Broker, and supporting management and analytics platforms. This role will interface with our largest and most influential customers requiring a strong technical background in data center including networking, REST API's, programmability including python scripting, SDN, OpenStack, NFV, virtualization, DevOps tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and others.

This role is highly dynamic and fast moving where the interlock between the customer, the field, and the business unit are critical as we align our features, timelines, and scale based on the customer business requirements helping us to drive our development and roadmap. A critical element to this role is the ability to run PoC testing, working with engineering and solutions requiring in-depth technical knowledge including hands-on work with customers, solutions validation services, advanced services, and the field.

Minimum Qualifications

The TME is responsible for producing collateral regarding positioning, technical architecture, competitive positioning, use case, validated designs, and best practices. This includes presenting this material to various audiences and conferences.

The HyperFlex Application Platform is a purpose-built software product centered around Kubernetes and designed to bridge the gap between capabilities app development teams need and what IT operations can provide. While the HyperFlex Application Platform supports a number of cutting-edge use-cases, in this position you will focus primarily on developing and nurturing those related to the telco/service provider space. This is a highly technical role that requires a well-rounded understanding of Kubernetes and cloud native applications as well as the telco/service provider industry and architectures. In this role you will be an integral part of the product team helping to steer the product roadmap to meet current and future needs of our telco/service provider customers. You will serve as a technical liaison to the field, channel partners and customers to ensure they understand product capabilities and benefits while in turn gathering value input on requirements and knowledge of how the industry is evolving. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering technical content and collateral, such as demo videos, training seminars, whitepapers, industry event presentations, etc.. Who You'll Work With You will work closely with peer product TMEs, product managers and engineering teams responsible for planning and delivering platform releases. In addition, you will work closely with the Cisco field and channel partner organizations to help drive platform adoption with customers. This is a high visibility, high momentum effort within an entrepreneurial business unit of Cisco that has attracted the best talent and delivered outstanding results. Who You Are You have an understanding of key aspects, technology trends and requirements specifically centered around Kubernetes, cloud-native applications and the telco/service provider industry. Minimum requirements for this role: * 8+ years of experience as technical marketing engineer or comparable technical role, preferably in or supporting telco/service provider industry * Understanding of Kubernetes architecture, operations and use-cases * Understanding of telco/service provider architectures, operations and use-cases * Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering highly technical documentation and presentations * Exemplary written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt from executive to individual contributor messaging * Ability to clearly articulate and understand complex technical requirements and solutions * Knowledge of Cisco's portfolio and business a plus * Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability * Self-starter, ability to work independently * Fun highly energetic personality; great team player that works well in collaborative situations Why Cisco We connect everything: people, processes, data, and things.
