ObjectRocket, a Rackspace owned tech startup, is a leading database-as-a-service management company that helps customers solve database challenges so they can focus on building their applications. We leverage Kubernetes to build and manage a platform that supports open source database technologies. Our team guides clients to the right data solution, acting as an extension of their team to manage their database infrastructure.


As a technical marketing content writer, you will play a key role in our marketing team and must be passionate about educating our target market and driving engagement by leveraging the right messaging, content formats, and channels. As a seasoned writer, editor, and content marketing manager, you'll be responsible for writing, planning, and executing a content strategy informed by broader marketing and product launch campaigns. The ideal candidate will have the ability to turn technical concepts into relatable and relevant content that satisfies our audience's need to better understand what we do, why it matters, and how it works. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the technology marketing space and is interested in wearing many hats.


  • Define the market position within the context of the overall product strategy and develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates our products in the market.

  • Understand and communicate technical subjects in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.

  • Create content to drive leads, customers, feature adoption, awareness, increase market and revenue share and/or other important metrics, while using SEO best practices. Examples include ebooks, blogs, whitepapers, case studies, infographics, guides, landing pages, social media campaigns, advertisements, and company website.

  • Conduct competitor analysis and market research; assist in developing product positioning for key solutions, verticals, messaging frameworks, and research to drive competitive differentiators.

  • Be an expert on CTO buyers, how they buy, and their buying criteria.

  • Work closely with product managers, marketing teammates, and other departments to create effective communications and content that articulate our product's core benefits properly and consistently.

  • Arm sales with the knowledge and tools they need to inform the strategic positioning of the product to customers, partners, and market influencers.

  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen working relationships with content authors, subject matter experts (SME), external vendors, and internal partners.

  • Develop customer-facing presentations, update the website, manage design vendor, and make SEO recommendations based on data from our marketing technology stack

  • Track content performance across multiple channels and report and communicate key learnings.


  • 5-7+ years of experience writing for a technical audience, with a portfolio of white papers, solution briefs, eBooks, blogs, social content, web copy and other content you've written and/or collaborated on

  • Proven track record in developing highly effective product positioning, messaging, sales tools, presentations, and digital marketing content.

  • Strong project and peer management skills, with the ability to own and drive content campaigns and projects from start to finish

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking on a variety of different projects

  • BA or BS in journalism, English, or related field and experience

  • Possess a dual-minded approach: You're highly creative and an excellent writer but can also be process-driven and rely on data to make decisions.

  • Experience building audiences either online or offline.

  • Excellent attention to detail both for editing copy and consistency in style and tone across content.

The ideal candidate is a gifted writer and editor who follows industry trends and who understands the B2B customer journey. Developing and promoting content that maps to business objectives and builds demand in the market is key for success in this role; this person is a nimble strategist who cares about metrics and has a track record of crafting stories that create and accelerate sales opportunities. Brand voice and reputation efforts are championed through a variety of deliverables including technical whitepapers, blog posts, emails, paid media and landing pages. We're looking for a strong mix of strategist, editor, and writer who can conceptualize big ideas and translate them into multi-dimensional content maintained in a consistent brand voice. Reporting to the Director of Brand, the right candidate feels just as comfortable collaborating on content strategy for websites and pieces of content as they will researching, writing, and editing a long-form whitepaper. Our ideal candidate also possesses stellar project management skills and a positive get-it-done attitude to work most successfully with our cross-functional teams. You'll strive to author custom branded content and continue to evangelize our brand voice, to set our content — and therefore our company — apart. Job Duties: * Develop and execute against the content strategy for Khoros and related editorial calendar * Oversee all moving pieces of content from ideation, to production, to distribution * Partner with designers, freelancers, and external stakeholders on content production * Support development and communication of content marketing strategy as it relates to business goals and Demand Gen Programs * Serve as editor-in-chief of marketing and communication materials, advising on voice and story — department- and business-wide as needed * Lead and/or contribute to content strategy, UX + wireframe exercises, and copywriting efforts for website projects as they arise * Contribute to the definition and maintenance of the Khoros brand voice * Develop creative content and campaign materials for maximum use across channels – from long-form whitepapers to short-form blog posts and collateral, and everything in between * Identify thought leadership stories and generate content that supports specific brand positioning and campaign efforts * Lead content project management efforts to make sure the execution of content is delivered in a timely fashion * Manage the content repository to ensure ease of access and maximum use of materials by the company * Collaborate closely with the marketing communications, revenue marketing, and creative teams to ensure the production of materials and that content is effectively delivered to the market through appropriate channels * Regularly assess and prioritize the enhancement, editing, and potential reformatting of existing content * Collaborate with other Marketers to define project scope (Demand Gen, Product Marketing, Digital Ops and Design teams.) * Consistently measure, track, and report on the performance of content and use those insights to drive future content planning decisions Minimum Requirements: * 5-10 years of work experience in marketing, journalism, or communications, ideally working for a technology company or agency * Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, collaboration and brainstorming skills * Experience working with various digital storytelling formats and can demonstrate the ability to take complex topics and communicate them effectively (text, video, slideshows, email) * Exemplary editing and proofreading skills, with knowledge of AP style * Prior experience working with integrated marketing and creative campaigns preferred * Stellar research skills and the ability to familiarize yourself with new topics and industries quickly * Excellent project management skills and attention to detail * Big idea person with the ability to both lead creative ideation and translate ideas into marketing content and materials – you're equal parts thinker and "doer" * Strategic thinker with a passion for digital customer engagement, digital marketing, and brand development Lithium Technologies Austin TX
