TITLE

Technical Manager

LOCATION

Meadville, PA

REPORTS TO

Plant Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for response time to breakdowns

  • Establish expectations

  • Manage execution

  • Get feedback from Production and crew leaders on performance related to breakdowns

  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program that will allow the equipment up time goal to be met or exceeded

  • Work with Production and Sanitation to identify, prioritize and coordinate sanitation and plant projects; coordinate with the production schedule when to work on equipment

  • Train personnel to accomplish the program

  • Develop and implement a method to document all work requests and their completion time and cost

  • Develop and implement a system to track all downtime due to breakdowns and the implemented solutions; include reason, time, frequency and recommended corrective action

  • Communicate priorities of projects to maintenance personnel

  • Ensures that the JMS Food Safety program is adhered to

  • Trains all employees in established SOP's

  • Ensures that all SOP's are being followed

  • Informs Plant Engineer or QA Manager of any food safety problems

  • Ensures that all safety requirements and regulations are being adhered to

  • Follows all safety procedures

  • Completes accident reports and turn in to Plant Engineer

  • Provides feedback to employees on unsafe practices; institute corrective action as necessary

  • Ensures that technicians are performing all daily sanitation responsibilities

  • Follows GMPs at all times

  • Ensures that technicians are meeting all GMP requirements

  • Provides feedback to employees who are not completing responsibilities or violating sanitation requirements; institute corrective action as necessary

  • Provides input to Corporate Sanitarian on problem areas and areas for improvement

  • Lead the performance appraisal and development process for technicians

  • Develop plant goals with the assistance of the Plant Engineer

  • Conduct reviews

  • Evaluate skills and provide for needed training

  • Assess technician performance and determine wages based on budget and salary guidelines

  • Leads team to achieve all established goals and targets

  • Creates a positive work environment

  • Gives feedback on performance and work behaviors, providing positive feedback when appropriate and initiating corrective action and disciplinary process as necessary

  • Completes call off reports

  • Schedule people in a way that allows the line to keep running at the best cost

  • Assesses training progress and gives feed back

  • Hire all maintenance personnel

  • Share performance expectations and provide feedback as necessary. Implement corrective action process as needed; enforce use of safe work practices

  • Create development plans for all personnel

  • Develop and implement a communications plan for the maintenance group

  • Prioritization of work

  • Expectations

  • Company and industry information

  • Manage outside contractors working in the facility

  • Identify specifications for needed parts

  • Keep abreast on new technology, methods and regulations relating to maintenance methods and technology

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent specific maintenance/technical experience is required

  • Licenses as appropriate for the role in specific technical areas (HVAC, etc)

Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in managing a maintenance program, including supervision of staff, allocation of resources and tracking of work performed in a manufacturing environment is required

  • Previous people management experience is required

  • Able to work in extreme temperature conditions (very hot or very cold)
