Technical Manager # The Technical Manager (TM) coordinates the technical aspects of implementation, including hardware, processes and decisions, and the project plan. The TM for the Epic project will participate in project scope and direction discussions. The TM will organize and lead technical discussions and provide project management for the technical infrastructure of the Epic implementation. The TM will have the technical background and understanding of the technical infrastructure staff including servers, storage, network, and desktop support teams. The TM is also responsible for ensuring that all implementation tasks are completed within the timelines outlined by the Epic project manager and director.


The Technical Manager responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that technical requirements and tasks are understood, clearly communicated, and executed on time.

  • Updating technical and interface project plans, technical trackers, and other work plans

  • Participating in core project leadership discussions and decisions

  • Acting as a liaison between the technical team and the application team

  • Ensuring that technical staffing levels are maintained, and that training and certification requirements are met.

  • Maintaining close communication with the Epic technical coordinator, technical manager, and system representatives.

  • Coordinating production and non-production hardware and software support for your Epic

  • Infrastructure including servers, network, storage, backup, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and desktop devices.

  • Tracking technical integration issues and coordinating issue resolution.

  • Ensuring that the systems teams provide routine system monitoring and that issues are mitigated.

  • Leading infrastructure capacity planning and monitoring activities.

  • Assessing and procuring Cach# and third-party licenses as needed.

  • Working with application and technical teams and project and organization leadership to develop, document. Qualifications: Education and Formal Training: Bachelor#s degree in information technology or computer Science or equivalent experience is required. Technical training in UNIX/Linux, Windows, VMware vSphere or equivalent, Oracle or SQL Server, technical infrastructure in a healthcare setting. Work Experience: Minimum ten years# experience in hospital information systems, including server and storage hardware, software, end-user device support, and networking technologies. Project management and previous supervisory experience are preferred. Certification: Certification as a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) in at least one server specialization, or significant equivalent advanced industry work experience beyond the minimum is required.# Epic e-learnings: System Pulse, Hardware Overview, Overview of Hyperspace and Hyperdrive, Introduction to Chronicles, or Printing Overview preferred. # Work#s Monday through Friday, day shift.# Occasionally, evenings, weekends, and overtime work may be required. May need to travel between various FirstHealthlocations and attend Epic training in Wisconsin. #
