Position Summary:

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking an experienced Technical Maintenance Trainer to assist with the technical training of Vulcan hourly personnel and management of the Division Training Center. By collaborating with all levels of management, the Technical Maintenance Trainer executes a technical learning strategy for division hourly employees.

This includes assessment of existing programs, and analysis of gaps. This is a high impact role requiring a strong, decisive, results-oriented leader who can develop, coach and manage relationships across the division and with a wide variety of partners based on trust, teamwork and technical knowledge.


Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred or equivalent industry experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong knowledge and experience of maintaining aggregate plant and mobile equipment and mining techniques.

Strong knowledge and experience to provide hands on demonstration and field training.

Willingness to gain knowledge of modern training techniques and tools in technical subjects.

Willingness to assist in designing technical course content.

Classroom presentations, communication and written skills required.

Basic computer knowledge is required.

Strong knowledge and experience to influence and coach employees, peers and management. Able to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships across the division.

Experience with technical skills to include but not limited to welding, crusher maintenance, conveyor systems, screens, and off road construction equipment.

Essential Functions:

Assist in the development and delivery of technical training for optimal learning for hourly employees to develop technical skills.

Work with operations management to identify technical training needs as well as provide technical support to individuals through task training, proper utilization of equipment, improving efficiencies and auditing safe operating practices.

Evaluate the overall effectiveness of training modules, workshops, etc. and make changes as needed to improve future results.

Recommend and assist in the development of curriculum using instructional design and adult learning principles for various delivery options.

Assist with the scheduling, coordinating, and deliverance of technical training modules, workshops, etc.

Attend external training to keep up to date with changing technology, techniques, standards, and equipment.

Assist with the development of master course documentation, manuals, and other learning resources.

Provide hands on technical training through field exercises and demonstrations.

Assist with identifying and maximizing the use of external resources to assist with technical training.

Financial responsibility for efficient management of the Division Training Center.

Some travel will be required.

Other duties as required.
