Job Summary

As a Technical Lead in the Engineering organization, you lead and provide hands on contribution within a team of local and nearshore software engineers building high availability services used to power our SaaS applications. You have a proven record developing and leading teams building enterprise-grade applications and have deep technical skills; you feel comfortable working in an agile environment and have a history of solving complex problems with elegance in simplicity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning and execution for a team delivering high volume, high availability services supporting millions of transactions per day for our always-on SaaS product.

  • Lead and provide hands-on contributions within a team of onshore and nearshore software developers and test engineers.

  • Develop and apply state-of-the-art methods to the creation, design and development of complex programs, applications and projects.

  • Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional organization to prioritize, scope and communicate progress of deliverables.

  • Promote and implement best practices, based on Agile standards.

  • Serve as point of escalation with internal and external customers as necessary to resolve issues.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

  • At least 10 years of experience building Enterprise-class SaaS products using technologies like Tomcat, Java, Spring, JMS, Web/RESTful services, Oracle, MongoDB and AWS

  • At least 3 years of hands-on team leadership experience and 7+ years hands-on development experience

  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of multithreading, scalability, and application of design patterns supporting high availability services

  • Ability to lead and contribute parallel projects spread across multiple development teams

  • Outstanding leadership, time management, communication and ability to work independently

Working Environment and Physical Demands

  • Must be capable of working on a computer for prolonged periods of time (e.g., 8 or more hours)
  • Travel requirements: Up to 10% travel as needed

VIEW JOBS 1/19/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-18T00:00 GENERAL SUMMARY: In addition to performing the functions of the Medical Laboratory Assistant, the Technical Lab Assistant performs more detailed and specific technical functions, as defined below. Technical Lab Assistant's troubleshoot problems and resolve issues as they arise. All Newton-Wellesley Hospital employees must adhere to and model the CareFirst Standards of Excellence. All laboratory staff members are expected to adhere to all department and hospital policies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: FOR CYTOLOGY * Assigns accession number to each case and maintains patient identification and specimen integrity throughout the process. * Operates the Cytyc T2000, and T5000 processors to prepare slides. * Operates the Cytyc automated stainer to stain the slides. * Operates the Cytyc Imaging System to screen the slides prior to cytotechnologist review. * Operates the automated coverslipper. * Prepares non-gynecologic specimens according to protocol. * Prepares cell blocks for processing in Histology. * Manually stains non-gynecologic specimens according to protocol. * Maintains all equipment and stains according to protocol. * Identifies and processes specimens for ancillary testing. * Maintains slide and requisition files. * Troubleshoots instrument problems with the vendor. * Identifies and resolves most problems, with assistance from the Technical Specialist. * Answers the telephone and interacts with clients to answer questions and resolve issues. * Registers patients in the Epic registration system adhering to current procedures including strict patient identification standards. * Orders microbiology tests in the Clinical Lab information system. * Orders tests in the Anatomic Pathology information system. * Other duties as assigned, including cross-training in other departments. PROBLEM SOLVING: * Follows all established departmental and laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols when performing all tasks. * Attention to detail and accuracy accompanied by flexibility to adapt to varying workloads must be applied each day. * Each problem is to be resolved in a professional and timely manner. * Any problem that cannot be resolved must be escalated to the next level (e.g. lead, technical specialist) for assistance. ACCOUNTABILITY: * Performs all duties in a consistently professional manner. * Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, especially when resolving problems and/or issues. * Efficiently and effectively handles the workload and adapts pace to accommodate increases or decreases in volume. * Maintains specimen identification and integrity throughout all processes. * Reports any and all problems with specimen submission by using LISET and/or the Safety Reporting System. * Attends departmental, laboratory, and hospital meetings. * Completes all training, both in-person and on-line, in a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS: The qualified candidate will perform the essential requirements in at least one of the three areas listed above. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: High school diploma or equivalent, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to solve problems, computer skills, and customer service skills are required.
