The Team:

The Consumer Analytics team is central to Chegg's digital marketing efforts we use data and analysis to support every business line and functional organization at the company. It is a team composed of data scientists, engineers, mathematicians, statisticians, and business analysts. We use a world-class set of data science, marketing and BI technologies to make data insights that define audiences that we can target and grow.

  • designing and driving forward our customer data platform

The Marketing Technology team specifically works to support our internal business and internal marketing team by providing best in class marketing and advertising technology to help Chegg maintain our competitive advantage by understanding the student better and faster than anyone else - using that insight to personalize our campaigns to better help students. We use a combination of third party and in-house technologies to deliver on our mission.

The Role: Technical Lead Marketing Technology

Chegg has an exciting role for someone who wants to take the technical lead in supporting our MarTech platform users. By building out scalable processes, a best in class supporting technology stack and by helping teams understand the full capability of the platform you will help Chegg acquire and retain students.

In this role at Chegg, you will be providing support to teams who utilize our MarTech platform - with the goal of enabling our product and marketing teams to be more effective as they continue to provide an increasingly personalized experience to our customers. To be successful you will need to be a strong partner capable of communicating with business and engineering partners - you love helping teams to find creative ways to utilize our platform to achieve their business goals.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the marketing and product teams that use our Marketing Technology stack.

  • Effectively triage and prioritize issues across your team, providing transparency to partners as to what we are working on and what is in backlog.

  • Solve problems to help our business move faster - balancing your natural desire to provide short term solutions to help the business move fast whilst building out scalable longer-term solutions.

  • Proactively identify areas of improvement that increase our operations - higher throughput, less downtime, fewer issues, more self-serve.

  • Work to continually improve documentation for key processes to help our partner teams self-serve.

  • Manage and evolve the CRM data model and audience definitions ensuring they are consistent with Chegg-wide data definitions.

  • Collaborate with technology partners (internal teams and external partners) to improve our Marketing Technology and evolve it's capabilities.

  • Build and deliver training for teams so they understand the full capability of tools/platforms and support training globally.


  • Ability to solve marketing problems through the creative application of technology.

  • Practical experience in a high growth Digital Marketing subscription business.

  • Detailed understanding of CRM tools and operations. SQL and database expertise, plus coding in Javascript, Python or similar. Experience using a variety of API's to integrate and automate business processes.

  • Familiarity with reporting tools, dashboards and data visualization as they relate to helping drive operational excellence. Analytical mindset, comfortable using data to spot trends and inform ways to improve system performance.

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal. Transparent and accurate when keeping partners informed of progress.

  • Ability to communicate at a high level when helping teams understand technology components and how they interoperate. Coupled with an ability to be extremely detailed oriented when trying to identify and fix bugs.

  • Self-motivated; independent, organized and proactive; highly responsive, flexible, and adaptable including working with global teams.


  • Expert in Adobe Campaign Classic.
