BAE Systems' Electronic Systems (ES) sector is looking for candidates to join our Operations team starting in the Spring of 2019. We have intern positions for talented, up and coming process, mechanical, manufacturing, and industrial engineers who want to work at a progressive company where technical excellence is highly valued.

Our mission is "We protect those who protect us", and as an Operations Technical Intern in Electronic Systems, you will develop your engineering skills while helping us protect the brave men and women in our armed forces, intelligence communities and first responders. Our products must work the first time, every time, because people's lives depend on it. In Operations, it is our responsibility to make sure that whatever we build leaves with Zero Defects. As an operations intern you will be working with Operations employees to achieve operational excellence, whether it be supporting those who build the product, work continuous improvement, apply zero defect and six sigma principles, or supplier quality improvements.

BAE Systems' Intern Program also offers professional development classes and opportunities to participate in collaborative group projects that are presented to executive leadership. This internship will be at BAE Systems in Manassas, VA.

The internship is a paid internship and has a work schedule that includes every other Friday off. We are looking for hardworking, self-starters who have a willingness to learn and make positive change.

Acceptable Majors include Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations Management.

Responsibilities The Customer Support Centre of Expertise chapter within the API, Connectivity & Identity Tribe is looking for a Technical Customer Engineer. Recognized within the company as a privileged source of information and support, Customer Support Centre of Expertise is helping the regional support centres around the world with complex problems, directly, or indirectly through knowledge sharing. As a team player and API squad member, while under the coaching of a more senior team member, you will: * Assist the regional support centres with solving complex customer technical problems or queries. * Reproduce problems faced by our customers. * Identify areas of improvement in the product, support tools and documentation. * Represent the voice of the customer within your squad. You can make a difference! Your responsibilities * Resolve and report on customer complex to mission critical problems (including 24x7 oncall rotation within the team). * Troubleshoot and quickly diagnose complex problems in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA). * Propose and implement measures to prevent reoccurrence of problems and cases reported. * Communicate on progress internally and externally. * Implement solutions and provide product-related consulting at customer/vendor/partner sites. * Provide technical support to the commercial divisions by participating in technical reviews and giving product presentations and demos. * Participate and represent the voice of the customer and/or customer support organisation in projects to increase product supportability, operability and usability and decrease product complexity. * Design, create, organise and deliver staff training, update knowledge management databases and document problem management procedures for both existing and new products and services. * Maintain and improve a good working relationship with key stake holders: Product Management, IT Development, Service Management and Customer Support. Qualifications Education University/Bachelor degree in IT/Engineering or equivalent Experience At least 2 years of experience in a similar position is an asset. Professional knowledge and expertise Strong technical background (working knowledge is always a strong asset): * Good knowledge of Linux RedHat and Windows operating systems * Security minded and focused * Scripting, integration or development knowledge * Knowledge of HTTP protocol * Knowledge of JSON and XML * Knowledge of Google Cloud Apigee * Knowledge of OAuth and SAML authentication and authorization mechanisms * Knowledge of generic Web based technologies (all popular Web Browsers today, curl, dev and troubleshooting functionality, etc.) Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Willingness to learn and take ownership Continuous Improvement and Agile mind-set Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written A team player willing to work in a multicultural environment Influencer able to build and maintain working relationships Passionate about IT and technology What we offer SWIFT Manassas is one of two offices in the Virginia area, located a short drive from Washington DC.
