Technical Expert, Environmental Scientist

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Technical Expert, Environmental Scientist to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Spokane, WA office or virtually.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

• Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project teams and nationwide company offices and client/project locations with primary focus on:

• Energy transmission and generation (gas-fired, renewable) projects

• Project siting, site resource surveys and characterization, including GIS and other data management and representation

• Environmental assessment under NEPA and equivalent state environmental quality review regulations

• Development of permit documentation, packages and submittals

• Interaction with clients and regulatory agency staff to support the environmentally responsible and sustainable development or projects, while protecting resources consistent with regulation.

• Assist project teams in developing and executing technical approaches to problem-solving.

• Prepare proposals, project technical reports/deliverables, and regulatory compliance submissions.

• Understand client needs and build and maintain trusted client relationships.

• Coordinate with client representatives, and regulatory and external stakeholders.

• Execute projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary and scheduling requirements.

• Be effective in assigning and managing work.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• B.S. degree in environmental science/engineering, biology, geology or related field (6+ years of experience).

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

• Experience with natural resources permitting, ideally for energy projects such as gas and/or electric transmission projects, energy generation projects (gas-fired power plants, renewable generation).

• Basic skills in quality control, planning, cost estimating, and scheduling.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be proficient at writing technical reports to meet scope and quality objectives and client expectations.

• Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in industry standard software (e.g. ArcGIS, Excel)

• Strong organization skills and exceptional attention to detail is expected.

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to see projects through to completion are a must.

• Periodic travel will be required to project, client, and/or agency locations.

The salary range for this position in Spokane, WA is $125,000 - $145,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to ensure we are competitive in the current market. This role is eligible to participate in the company's discretionary bonus program. This role may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.
