Test Technology Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc (ARA) has an opening for an entry-level Technical Editor internship. The successful candidate will have or be working towards an English, Journalism, or equivalent degree with 1-2 of work experience.

The editor will format camera ready reports and all documents to adhere to the appropriate style (either ARA format, government format, or a variety of other formats established by clients). In addition to editing the text, graphics, and tables within a variety of deliverable media for clarity, grammar and spelling, the editor will ensure accuracy and clarity in the presentation of complex technical data sets, coordinating with the authors and technical reviewers. This position is part time with flexible hours.

The preferred candidate will have experience in the MS Office suite (especially MS Word, but also including Excel, PowerPoint, and Project), Adobe Acrobat Pro. We are located on Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Employment is contingent upon obtaining an interim DoD security clearance.

Provide dedicated advisory and assistance services (A&AS) support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Nuclear Enterprise Directorate (NE), Inspections & Education Department (NE-IE), Defense Nuclear Weapons School (DNWS). Under the government lead for DTRA's Partnership Training and Education Program (PTEP) the incumbent coordinates and provides short-notice, tailored training and education to military, federal, state, municipal, and international law enforcement personnel. Incumbent must meet the needs of DTRA's customers and advocate DTRA's capabilities to interagency partners. The qualified candidate provides subject matter expertise with radiological detector technology, operational & tactical experience. Primary duties include: * Prepares and presents technical briefings and information papers * Arrange for guest speakers and coordinate the processing of their clearances and instructional material * Assist with analyzing and responding to Agency and NE taskers, including tracking the status of open and ongoing taskers * Tracks student numbers and instructor training hours compatible for entry in the current DNWS data systems * Participates in the periodic review, planning, designing, developing, evaluating, presenting, and maintaining of DNWS course modules * Performs liaison, coordinating with government subject matter experts (SMEs) and technical personnel with focus on Combatant Commands (CCMDs), with U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) as primary emphasis * Interacts with other instructional staff, technical staff, management, academia, and customers at the Joint Staff, CCMDs, Combat Support Agencies, other agencies, and the national laboratories * Aligning resources, venues, and dates for PTEP to deliver lectures, seminars, discussion sessions, tabletop exercises, hands-on training, information exchanges, and analysis on a broad range of countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) topics * Develops course modules and courses of instruction * Training aid management (inventory, maintenance, design and procurement) * Training site coordination and development * Report generation of required documents; Manage PTEP student critiques, course feedback, after action reports, and storyboards #DTRA * Top Secret clearance * BA/BS required * Comprehensive knowledge of radiological detector technology; proficiency operating various radiological detection and training equipment * Comprehensive knowledge of operational and tactical Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) and CWMD activities * Knowledge of WMD proliferation and counter-proliferation; WMD response; and consequence management * Ability to collaborate across a diverse workforce to achieve objectives Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop presentations and brief senior leaders * Top Secret Special Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) #DTRA Engility Corporation Kirtland Air Force Base NM
