The Systems Engineering Integration and Test team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Technical Editor and Write 4 based out of San Diego, CA.
What You'll get to Do:
Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Primary responsibilities include writing/ updating payload and ground equipment maintenance manuals, supporting manual verifications with customer, creating service bulletins, and writing/updating a payload operator manual. Must be familiar with developing MIL-STD-45001 Technical Manuals (-13&P and/or -23&P). Must be familiar with developing Repair Parts and Special Tools List (RPSTLs). Experience with Arbortext system administration, document set-up, and authoring is a plus.
Acquires subject knowledge by: (1) interviewing product developers, engineers, logisticians, lab technicians, 3-D model animators, production personnel, and field technicians, (2) observing performance of system maintenance, and (3) researching technical specifications, related program documents, engineering drawings, 3-D animations/job aids, and maintenance videos. Responsible for coordinating equipment photo shoots with on-staff photographer. Responsible for acquiring/creating original illustrations for manuals.
Conducts peer reviews of program documents generated; coordinates stakeholder review with Configuration Management. (CM). Conducts technical manual validation/verification with customer. Serves as a consultant to management for work estimates for task orders and proposals.
Must be a highly motivated, self-starter who is deadline-driven. Writer will be responsible for all phases of document generation (i.e., researching, writing, customer verification, incorporating verification updates, and delivery via CM). Must have a background in (or an excellent understanding of) hardware maintenance and all phases of logistics.
Must be able to read engineering drawings and be able to research available resources in a timely manner to find needed information. Must be able to manage his/her time well to generate high quality documentation on schedule.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
10 Years of related experience with Bachelors Degree; 8 Years with Masters.
Must have excellent technical writing skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency of both technical information and documentation layout.
Must have a focus on the end-user needs to safely performing his/her job, while protecting the equipment from potential damage and ensuring a successful mission.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, PhotoShop, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Snag-It. Must be familiar with SharePoint for document upload/retrieval and ClearQuest for DocDefect status and reporting.
