Portland State University's Capital Projects & Construction (CPC) department is hiring a skilled Technical Drafter, CAD & BIM Manager to assist in the coordination and production of design documents for architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and plumbing disciplines. The applicant would also provide assistance with building signage, coordination of departmental moves on campus between buildings, electronic archiving tasks and database research for building as-built drawings and construction records.
Primary responsibilities include:
Use of AutoCAD and Revit BIM software, Photoshop Indesign, and other Adobe Suite type products
Use of archiving and database search programs
Coordination of department staff and furniture moves between buildings.
Building as-built measuring including drawing review for on-campus renovation projects in various disciplines including Architectural, Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing, Electrical and Structural.
Assisting the project teams with records management, Drawing updates for as-built conditions gathered from field data, construction as-built conditions including updating floor plans and BIM models upon project completion;
Assisting the project teams with construction project support
Assisting architect with space planning concept and presentation drawings and documents;
Integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) architecture into the existing records management processes;
Creating and updating drawings utilizing AutoCAD and AIM CAD for facilities management software
Assisting inhouse architects and engineers with a wide variety of construction and renovation designs for small to medium sized projects. Related tasks included the review of construction product data, materials specifications, equipment manuals, and building code reviews
This position requires a thorough understanding of architectural and engineering design process, and construction procedures. The Technical Drafter, CAD & BIM Manager will develop and maintain lasting and effective professional relationships with faculty and staff across the university, project managers, architects, engineers, students, and third party consultants and contractors.
