Generates technical documentation for the MiTek software suite through the application of user-centered design principles. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, help and training videos, installation manuals, training manuals, release notes, help files, technical support materials, and procedures through the use of computer-based multi-media tools, computer-based instructional material and web-based content.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Essential Functions Statement(s)
Interview software production, technical support, and technical sales personnel to determine installation and usage instructions and procedures.
Install and operate software iterations for further understanding and inclusion of data in technical documentation.
Maintain familiarity with MiTek, industry, and governmental standards and regulations applicable to software for inclusion in technical documentation.
Generate technical documentation including:
Developing and writing scripts for help and training videos.
Creating storyboard slides for help and training videos.
Recording voice overs for help and training videos.
Creating closed captioning files for help and training videos.
Posting help and training videos to various websites for distribution.
Writing text-based documents.
Taking digital photographs/screen shots and incorporating them into documents.
Editing digital photographs/screen shots to incorporate callouts and text.
Generate end user training materials, including:
Research end user work habits in order to produce high quality, targeted training materials.
Corresponding web pages.
Lead internal knowledge transfer sessions with MiTek associates.
Produce "best practices" documents for distribution to customer base.
Document common support issues and resolutions.
Post this information to the customer-facing Technical Resources website.
Keep up to date on industry standards and recommend process improvements.
Attendance during regular work hours.
Review software documentation; and update, maintain and distribute as needed.
Maintain MiTek Software standards for technical documentation.
Maintain repository and archive of all technical documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field or five to seven years related experience.
MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Web Based Authoring Tools
Experience Working with Web Based Content Management Systems
Experience creating and editing video content is a plus.
Knowledge of construction industry a plus.
