As a Technical Documentation Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the product line by producing high-quality documentation appropriate for its intended audience in multiple publication formats contributing to the overall product line success. Collaborates with teams, engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to make our products easier to install, operate, and service. Takes technical data, drawings, diagrams and instructions and produces documentation with clear intent and communication.

Reporting directly to the Manager Technical Services; this position is located in Mt Pleasant, MI.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Service documentation preparation and publishing of: Bulletins, Instructions, Use & Care, Troubleshooting, and Parts Manuals

  • Training material development, including: WebEx, PowerPoint, video, Top 10 service issues, etc.

  • Development of operational guidelines, preventative maintenance cards, and other customer support items

  • NPI and other development team participation and support

  • Assist in identification of industry documentation trends and recommendations for alternative method to provide technical support

  • Product development participation and support. Support customer/product issues

  • Publishing electronic documents to the web and maintaining with vendors

  • Provides technical assistance and service support for inquiries received, via phone or email from for Service Techs, Service Agencies, Sales and Customers.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Associates Degree; preferably in Graphic Design or Technical Writing; or a minimum of four (4) years' experience in Graphic Design or Technical Writing is required.

  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.

  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts / industry terminology and make them easily understandable in written and visual formats.

  • Must be fluent in English written and verbal.

  • Take and edit digital photos required for instructional purposes.

  • Strong working knowledge of the following programs;

  • Adobe Cloud (specifically InDesign, illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)

  • Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)

  • FrameMaker, Premiere, other Cloud & Legacy Adobe, ProE or CAD programs a plus

  • Work with multiple Raster & Vector graphic file formats.

  • Basic familiarity with HTML and WYSIWYG editors, XML or other programming a plus.

  • FileZilla and/or other FTP utility knowledge.

  • Normal office environment, ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Extended use of computer.

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.

They utilize tools to minimize loss to the Company, including but not limited to identifying incidents of theft and fraud, reviewing CCTV and exception reports, monitoring the store's physical security, auditing the Electronic Article Surveillance and driving a shrink elimination culture in the store. Other responsibilities include: preparing accurate and detailed case reports documenting your apprehensions and recoveries, preserving evidence, interacting with law enforcement and testifying in criminal and civil court actions. The Asset Protection Specialist must report any hazardous or unsafe condition to the Manager on Duty and carry out job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to themselves, other associates, vendors, customers, and the Company. They must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to asset protection and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives while supporting key asset protection and operational responsibilities.
