GHD has an opportunity for a Technical Director - Transportation to support the growth of our Highway, Roads, Bridges Practice in Southern California! This position can be located in any of our Southern California offices.
As a senior leader/project manager, you will help lead our transportation business development efforts and oversee SoCal transportation and infrastructure projects performed through our SoCal offices, from LA to San Diego. The position will consist of managing projects and guiding professional staff while providing client relationship management and building a pipeline of project opportunities.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership, business development, project management, and technical engineering skills. Established client relationships and a consistent track record with developing new business opportunities is required. We are seeking self-motivated and active networkers who value building credible relationships with clients and the community.

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Staff mentorship/team project leadership
Leading and/or oversight of teams to deliver highway, roadway, intersection, trail, bikeway, and other transportation related projects
Drive the transportation business across SoCal, with a focus on the Greater LA and Orange County areas
Oversight of the preparation and quality assurance of studies and reports
Business and client relationship development and management
Marketing activities and proposal development
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree, Civil Engineering, or related engineering degree
Licensed Professional Civil Engineer preferred
Minimum 15 years' experience across transportation market. Experience on highway/Caltrans projects and/or major projects is highly desired.
The Successful candidate will have the following skills:
Proven experience leading teams in preparing PID and PA/ED
Ability to develop an in depth understanding of client transportation challenges, craft innovative solutions to address, and holistically evaluate the alternatives for the client
Team-oriented, critical thinker, with a passion for client relations, problem solving, and delivery of high-profile infrastructure projects
Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously; and have strong organizational, problem solving, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable presenting in front of panels and audiences
Ability to attract and recruit industry talent at different levels

Salary Range: $165,000-$275,000 based on experience
