Our client, a large machine manufacturer is currently seeking multiple contract Technical Designer/Drafter.

Job Description:

  • To interpret specifications and drawings and take responsibility for all technical aspects of creating complete, functional and safe mechanical designs from them

  • To work with Project Manager to complete drawings and calculations for submittal and manufacturing according to project schedules and budgets

  • To interact with in a professional manner and supervise as required all designers, Engineers, production personnel, contractors, or customers involved with the same or related projects

  • To support the design, manufacture and installation of all projects throughout the complete production process including travel to the work site when required

  • To become familiar with the documented company processes and standards. Identify non-conformances and initiate Corrective Action Reports as necessary

  • To contribute to the company infrastructure whenever possible through activities such as development of new products and processes, as well as maintenance of Standard Product Drawings

  • Performing work activities that are in line with achieving the company's Quality Objectives

Minimum Qualification Criteria:

Education/Experience: Designer: 4-year degree in a theatrical technical program or equivalent work

Drafter: 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience.

Proficiency in mechanical drawing principals and CAD software

Proficiency in technical math and the principals of machinery design

Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software

This role will analyze and present data to management, ensure complex issues are escalated to the appropriate level, and is responsible for implementing and administering technical support to Commercial Strategic Account customers throughout North America. Performs duties related to overall customer service and post-sales support. Supports sales team by notifying customer concerns and trends. Responsible for maintaining quality and consistency of service by documenting and identifying trends in customer service needs. Performs on-site services for customers, installs new equipment and services, and maintains and upgrades existing equipment. Provides instruction and education regarding products or equipment usage to customers and internal employees. Designs and manages product training for customers and staff. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Contributes as the subject matter expert for multiple HVAC products and services * Resolves issues surrounding installation, usage, upgrade and training on products * Provides on-site services for commercial strategic account customers * Responds and handles complex calls with high profile customers to ensure effective operations of products and services * Maintain and assess warranty and non-warranty related issues * Coordinates with customer service and sales team to identify customer support and service needs * Conducts training sessions, product demonstrations and develops criteria for evaluating effectives of training activities * Obtains information from customer and technical organizations, engineering, software and product requirements to prepare training projects for customs and team members. Ensure implementation of training programs QUALIFICATIONS: * Expert knowledge of commercial HVAC products and services * Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills * Sense of urgency, self-initiative, commitment and sense of ownership is a must * Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally with both internal and external contacts * Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities * Ability to work under pressure * Must be a highly motivated individual * Capable of making decisions to resolve problems immediately * Knowledge of Microsoft Office and a plus * Experience with defining, capturing and improving key metrics * Proficient in handing complex customer technical matters EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Typical Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree with engineering discipline and 5+ years of related commercial HVAC service experience * 8+ years of related commercial HVAC service management work experience ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: The incumbent in this role will be responsible for complying with Carrier's Code of Ethics, Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policy and applicable regulatory and Company rules and requirements.
