Job Description:

The CIB Technology Strategy and Governance team is a cross-CIB Technology function which is looking to drive integration in CIB Technology's structure and to ensure greater consistency in how performance is measured in alignment with Business & Technology strategy. The group supports CIB Technology leaders with development of their workforce strategy and supporting change management activities based on operating principles aligned to primary business drivers (technology, target operating model / transformation, controls / operations and productivity initiatives) as a basis for a management framework to drive execution and enable clear communication to key stakeholders (including our staff).

The Workforce Strategy and Governance function is organized around 5 key dimensions; Organizational design, Location Strategy, Real Estate strategy, Inter Affiliate Services, Talent & Capability.


The Workforce Strategy and Governance team is seeking a data analyst to assist in collecting and analysing headcount and location data to identify important Workforce trends for the Corporate and Investment Bank. The analyst will be a member of the team that provides CIB Technology with governance, direction, thought leadership and guidance to business and functional leads on planning, development and implementation of workforce strategy initiatives, ongoing data analysis, modelling and forecasting support and briefings pertaining to the organizations workforce and any opportunities to optimize the organization.

We are currently seeking a candidate who will partner closely with the lines of business and the associated support teams to drive and coordinate the planning strategies necessary to the development of cohesive location strategy plans and organizational design. Will also provide governance, direction, thought leadership and guidance to business and functional leads on planning, development and implementation of location strategy initiatives. The candidate will work directly for the CIB Location Strategy/ COE Lead and have regular engagement with senior management of CIB Technology and its sub Lines of Business (LOB), Finance & Business Management, Global Real Estate functions and other CIB lines of business.


The analyst will facilitate workforce analytics by assisting our clients with the following:

  • Provide analysis and understanding of workforce data to facilitate strategic decision making,

  • Headcount reporting and analysis in order to establish location specific controls and the ongoing monitoring of headcount to ensure alignment to Location Strategy principles and objectives

  • Analytics and reporting around the quarterly Corporate Location Strategy submissions

  • Analytics on the composition of teams in CIB Technology (e.g. size, locations and function)

  • Historic headcount data trends at a city and functional level

  • Develop reporting by implementing a defined analytics approach along with a standard look and feel for all reporting across the Workforce Strategy Program

  • Develop a standard set of location and headcount reporting, act as a central point for all workforce data requests and tactically automate and work to establish a strategic solution for all repeatable data requests

  • Aggregate and synthesize data from authoritative systems into metrics and analytics

  • Design models, and provide data for workforce planning and forecasts to facilitate recruitment

  • Communicates data insights and makes recommendations through presentations and spreadsheets in a clear and concise manner for senior leadership

  • Adhoc presentations to facilitate senior leadership reviews, deep dives or offsite materials

  • Develop a reporting database to track seating supply and forecasted demand

  • Ongoing tracking of space constrained locations to provide transparency into gaps to seating allocations

  • Monthly collation of metrics use for management reporting

At least 2 years of specialized, hands-on experience in using Excel, Tableau or other analytical tools to conduct statistical data analysis

Strong math (statistics) skills & excellent analytical aptitude

Extensive advanced Excel skills

Extensive advanced Access database skills

Advanced PowerPoint skills

The analytics analyst should have a strong understanding of Finance and Business management resource databases and systems

Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and identify key trends

Ability to present data in a logical, concise manner

Experience in applying statistical methods

Background and knowledge of finance policies, processes, and procedures

Knowledge of database integrity and security standards

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Direct client support experience in a fast-paced environment

Effective multi-tasking skills
