POSITION SUMMARY: Technical Communications Specialist is responsible for creating, updating, managing and record-keeping of all Technical Services documents and media, ensuring that all communications are published in a timely, consistent and accurate manner based upon product and systems characteristics and performance, and the most current industry recognized standards.

In addition, this position will assist with hands-on evaluations, data reporting and record-keeping related to new product development and current product modifications. The Technical Communications Specialist will assist Technical Specialists, Technical Coordinators, and Claims Coordinators by providing guidance related to product specification, installation, maintenance and warranty information. This position may be called upon to facilitate Technical trainings to internal and external customers during in-person or online sessions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing written reports, project status updates and letters to internal and external customers including Architects, Designers, Distributors, Contractors, and Sales.

This position will work in concert with Quality Assurance, Research and Innovation, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Claims to ensure that accurate, consistent and timely information is being provided to our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, update and manage accurate records of all Technical Services documents and media, including installation and maintenance instructions, videos, product specification sheets, quick reference guides, and product carton labeling ensuring that all communications are published in a timely, consistent and accurate manner.

  • Manage new product development and existing product update projects from concept to completion.

  • Maintain active involvement in industry related organizations (ASTM, CRI, RFCI, CFI, etc.)

  • Answer questions related to product and application as well as standards and maintenance.

  • Evaluate product characteristics, features and benefits, and make recommendations to Technical Services, Product Management or Manufacturing for product or process improvement.

  • Assist Product Management in the creation of Installation and Maintenance videos to accompany new product launches and existing product updates.

  • Review and advise the authorization of project specific warranties when needed.

  • Attend conferences, seminars, or training opportunities that involve travel and presenting to internal and external customers

  • Identify improvement opportunities, based upon data collection, to positively impact customer experience.

  • Assist in the training of department team members to contribute to overall skillset of the team.

  • Provide information to the technical hotline team to ensure accuracy and consistency of recommendations.

  • Ability to make basic determinations through evaluation of product.

  • Be independent and have the knowledge to manage a project data entry to communication of resolution.

  • Portray leadership portraying department and company values to rest of the Technical Services department and offer assistance to the team as needed.

  • Support and promote team while striving to provide an excellent customer experience.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working knowledge of industry standard Installation and Maintenance procedures

  • Proficient in current software packages such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel

  • Preferred five years of related experience within flooring industry

  • Preferred five years of related experience in construction project management
