The Technical Claims Specialist II will be responsible for the oversight, evaluation, and disposition of Complex Workers Compensation Excess and Primary Unbundled cases of varying exposures and severity. The Technical Claims Specialist II provides highly specialized technical knowledge to TPAs and self-insureds. In this role, you are expected to have developed a high-level knowledge of workers compensation claims handling, a full knowledge of LMG claims procedures and are cognizant of new industry trends and claims handling techniques.

You will be required to go into the office twice a month if you reside within 50 miles of one of the following offices: Bala Cynwyd, PA; Boston, MA; Hoffman Estates, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Lake Oswego, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Plano, TX; Suwanee, GA; Syracuse, NY; Tampa, FL; or Weatogue, CT.  Please note this policy is subject to change.

Responsibilities

The Technical Claims Specialist II will be responsible for the following:

  • Investigates claims to determine whether coverage exists on files. Researches and resolves complex coverage problems and may meet with policyholders to review coverage issues.

  • Works with Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and self-insureds to resolve claims within authority and makes recommendations regarding case value and resolution strategy to management as well as TPAs and self-insureds.

  • Establishes and updates Resolution Strategies on assigned claims which clearly reflect file status and disposition strategy.

  • Identifies and appropriately handles claims with third party subrogation potential, Second Injury Fund (SIF) and Medicare Set Aside (MSA)

  • Demonstrates the ability to understand new and unique exposures and coverages.

  • Demonstrates the ability to understand key data elements and claims related data analysis.

  • Communicates with Legal, Sales, Underwriting, Loss Prevention, Auditing, Financial on a regular basis to discuss exposures, defenses and handling of Worker Compensation Excess and Unbundled claims.

  • Identifies and appropriately handles suspicious claims.

  • Licensing required in TX, NM, and OK, but can be obtained within 60 days of starting in the role.

  • Exercises a high level of autonomy in handling and reviewing assigned cases and completing special projects.

  • Demonstrated ability in handling a full range of claims files including high exposure and more complex cases.

  • Ability to work well with special service accounts.

  • Thorough knowledge of Claims Department procedures and operations as well as understanding of claims department loss control program.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree or equivalent business experience is required

  • In addition, the candidate will generally posses 5-7 years of related claims experience with 1-2 years of experience in complex claims

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint as well as excellent written and verbal communication skill required
