VulcanForms Inc. is growing and is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Technical Buyer Intern to join our high-performing procurement team. This position requires the procurement of products through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.
The ideal candidate will be a confident and highly organized self-starter with high energy, a good teammate, willing to learn, excellent communication skills, and comfortable learning and using ERP software.
Job Purpose
As a Technical Buyer (Temporary) at VulcanForms Inc., Devens, MA, you will be responsible for understanding our technology and manufacturing requirements and then source material, parts, and equipment to meet those requirements. Primarily, you will be responsible for ensuring that you place the Purchase Orders in a timely fashion. Ensuring that the Purchase Orders placed by you are received, meet our requirements and that the suppliers receive payment on time for their products or services.
You will learn about the additive manufacturing machines we are building and the other ancillary equipment/processes. You will learn and know what parts go into this machinery, the specs for those parts, and why. You will build positive relationships with the supplier while securing individual components' price and lead time. Understand how to reduce lead time, get better pricing, know which parts are a single source, and discover alternative suppliers to assist the company plan for better production.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage relationships with suppliers as the point of contact for assigned commodities
- Execute all procurement activities to ensure that materials, parts, and equipment meet the delivery schedule, negotiated price, and meets specifications and quality requirements
- Communicate with internal stakeholders supply risk while reducing supply complexity
- Maintain and update system(s) with updated supplier information and purchase order information
- Process purchase requisitions submitted by internal customers from a qualified supplier base in a cost-effective manner consistent with the company's processes and procedures
- Solicit bids, analyze quotations, select or recommend suppliers, and negotiate purchase orders in concert with the highest quality at the lowest total cost
- Coordinate review of suppliers' scorecard performances (KPI) to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and inventory objectives
- Continue to research and develop sources of supply for assigned commodities with a continuous improvement approach.
- Participate in Supplier Audits as required
- Comply with ISO Policies and Procedures within Procurement Department
- Participate in supplier business reviews with key suppliers. These reviews may include OTD delivery, quality performance, production capabilities and capacity, quality systems, engineering resources, and financial status.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor's in Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Business Administration, Finance, or another related degree
- Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Experience in software tools similar to Outlook, Microsoft Office, and ERP tools
- Authorized to work within the U.S. without restrictions or need of sponsorship now or in the future (U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S. (U.S. green card holder))
Preferred
- Analytical experience identifying cost reduction opportunities, schedule improvements, risks, and/or other efficiency opportunities
- Experience with MRP/ERP software, Epicor preferred
- Team player with strong computer and excellent communication skills
- Strong sense of ownership
- Excited about taking on new challenges in the metal additive manufacturing industry and working in a fast-paced startup environment
- Self-motivated, hands-on, practical mindset, and capable of setting and reaching ambitious goals
