Job Overview:

The Technical Business Systems Analyst enables marketing with data and data analytics solutions. As a member of the marketing technology and platform team, the Technical Business Systems Analyst acts as a liaison between the business users and the data engineering teams to deliver marketing data insights, BI reports, data marts and systems/applications. This role is detail intensive, requiring the accurate capture and translation of data requirements (both tactical and analytical needs) and validation/verification of the working solution. This person will be responsible for collecting and documenting business requirements and performing complex data analysis and data validation. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Participate in end-to-end BI solutions development and delivery. Primary responsibilities include but, are not limited to:

  • Work with business to understand, gather and document business requirements

  • Identify source systems and data required to meet user's current and potential future needs.

  • Perform complex data analysis and prepare insights using SQL, python, Shell scripts, R or Tableau.

  • Define and document transformation logic (Source to Target Mapping)

  • Participate in solution development process to ensure solution addresses all business requirements

  • Identify and implement reporting solutions, using automation capabilities when appropriate.

  • Perform thorough data validation by writing SQL scripts.

  • Establish and coordinate user acceptance testing and plan.

  • Present status, milestones and issues to management and other stakeholders related to assigned projects.

  • Develop the process and supporting artifacts to organize information management into data dictionary, data lineage, and other supporting documents.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of analytics, data repositories, data models and reporting systems, including:

  • Understand and document the underlying data elements, constraints, flows and sources supporting the business domain.

  • SME (subject matter expert) on business processes, data, marketing eco-system as well as data received from other sources.

  • With understanding of marketing system and data needs, proactively identify gaps in data coverage and identify required enhancements and opportunities for improvement.

  • Help analyze and solve day-to-day challenges with data and analytics/reporting systems, including:

  • Research data and systems issues.

  • Resolve and/or prioritize issue resolution.

  • Proactively identify data quality problems and support solution identification.

  • Interpret highly complex physical and logical data models.

  • Perform other job-related duties and activities as requested.



  • BA/BS Degree, advanced degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years of data/business analyst experience.

  • 4+ years working experience with databases.

  • 3+ years hand on SQL experience

  • Well versed with ETL/Data Warehousing concepts

Communication Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior management, architects, data modelers, data visualization experts, and developers.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and analytical skills.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Comfortable working independently to achieve successful results with minimal guidance.

  • Confidently handle multiple projects simultaneously and under deadlines.

  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills.

  • Possess an analytical mindset and demonstrable critical thinking skills.

Physical Demands:

  • This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.

  • May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

  • May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.

  • Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.

  • May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.

Other Skills:

  • Comfortable using systems/technology including Hadoop, SAS, Google Cloud, and Tableau.

  • Extremely detail oriented.

Work Hours:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Department Overview Meter to Cash - Requirements, Analysis & Design (MTC RAD) is responsible for analyzing and designing work that impacts the Meter to Cash systems and their direct interfaces. This team works with business and technical stakeholders to obtain the best possible solutions for its clients. Its deliverables include providing estimates for MTC related work; developing an internal work plan with identified resources and target completion dates; and preparing requirements and functional designs.
