Summary

This position supports the software engineers and the graphic artists in the development, testing, and delivery of training products to the U.S. Navy. All work is accomplished in a government facility, with tightly controlled access, in Orlando, FL. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gets hands on experience in the development lab while, at the same time, furthering their education in the field of computer science/software development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop draft user and test documentation

  • Perform regular Configuration Management activities such as archiving documentation, tracking media deliveries, and auditing inventories.

  • Perform training product testing

  • Execute document peer reviews

  • Develop defect/issue reports

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • One year of writing academic or technical documents. Experience gained in a formal/college training environment meet the intent of this qualification.

Education and/or Experience and Education:

The successful applicant will be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a technical or scientific undergraduate degree in the field of computer science/software development. Applicant must have complete at least one college level English composition class.

Experience and Knowledge of the Following:

Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using the English language, while working in a lab environment utilizing team building skills.

Ability to:

  • Organize, plan and coordinate effectively

  • Maintain accurate records

  • Operate computer equipment and software

  • Work independently in the absence of supervision

Certificate, Licenses, Registrations:

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Where driving may be required or where a rental car must be obtained for business travel purposes, applicants must have a valid driver license for this position and will be subject to verification.

Language Skills:

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions in English

  • Communicate clearly and precisely, both orally and in writing, in English

  • Ability to speak effectively with customers (to include government officials, corporate officials, and employees)

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to following basic instructions from supervisors/mentors

Physical Demands:

Maintain physical conditioning appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include: sitting at a desk using a computer for prolonged periods of time and move around workspaces to coordinate with other employees. Work location is in a government building with handicap access including an elevator.

Work Environment. Regular exposure to an office environment with extended periods of time spent sitting at a desk using a computer.

Let us be Your Road to Success We are seeking a dedicated Technical Support Analyst for our Information Systems Technology department. This position is an information technology (IT) professional who helps users resolve issues with computer hardware or software. They respond to user inquiries, assess problems and issues with IT equipment and applications, and help resolve these issues for users. They also work closely with other IT department personnel to provide assistance on tasks that are outside the scope of their knowledge or expertise. Employees in this position need to balance creative and technical problem-solving, customer service, and collaboration to ensure that personnel throughout the organization can access and utilize the software and resources they need for work. This can involve remotely accessing the user's computer and making changes to their system and settings. In other cases, you may need to walk the user through steps they can take to resolve the issue on their own. For relatively simple issues, a solution to the problem can be devised without the IT department taking further action. * Escalates user support requests to higher-level IT technicians and experts if they are unable to resolve the issue on their own. They provide supervisors or specialists with notes regarding the problem, steps they have already taken to resolve the issue, and their diagnosis of the user's problem. For particularly complex cases, you may receive/request the user's hardware so that IT specialists can conduct analyses and determine how to fix the problem. * Handle incoming queries and help requests from end users, either via email, phone, fax, or Rotech ticketing system. Take detailed notes of the problem the user is experiencing, determine steps they can take to resolve the issue, and manage the flow of incoming support requests. This involves asking questions to determine the full scope of the user's issue. * Support users by performing system tests and updates after they complete their troubleshooting and necessary repairs. This helps to prevent future issues and service interruptions and ensures that troubleshooting and updates have not caused problems elsewhere within the system. They may also walk users through update and installation processes for software and peripherals. * Supports department-wide operations by creating, editing, and maintaining IT documents. This can include FAQ documents for users that detail common issues and how to resolve them without opening a help desk ticket, department documents that outline standard operating procedures and practices, and help sheets that can be distributed throughout the organization. * Throughout the user support process, maintain detailed records of user issues with software and hardware within the Rotech ticketing system. These notes can help diagnose and repair complex issues and also provide IT departments with data regarding recurring issues and problems reported by multiple users. By maintaining detailed records, the IT Dept. can also look at a user's history of software or hardware issues and make recommendations to prevent future problems. * Performs other duties as necessary.
