Technical Assistant - Rome Student Services (PT)

Salary: $25.00 per hour

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a part-time Technical Assistant in our Rome Campus Student Services office. The Rome Student Services Technical Assistant provides technical support services for students on the Rome Campus who require accommodative resources, performs technical work to assist in the efficient operation of Rome Student Services, and provides general supervision of Rome Student Activities.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Advocates on behalf of students with disabilities, and teaches them self-advocacy skills;

• Monitors the receipt and quality of classroom-generated notes;

• Schedules, prepares and administers accommodative testing;

• Triages student needs and implements student communications;

• Assists faculty with accommodative testing;

• Purchases and/or creates electronic and other alternate formats for textbooks and other class materials;

• Assists with the mentoring, training, and evaluation of testing assistants, readers, student note takers and interpreting staff;

• Documents, maintains, and reviews case records, notes and related information in electronic files;

• Performs technical work to assist in the efficient operation of Rome Student Services;

• Provides general supervision of Rome Student Activities;

• Works closely with the Student Congress VP-Rome on student engagement programming;

• Maintains and adheres to departmental confidentiality;

• Utilizes College systems and programs with proficiency;

• Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Rome Campus and Community Outreach.

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule of 28 hours per week during the academic year (off two (2) months in the summer).

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or 60 credit hours completed

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two (2) years of experience working in higher education, K-12 education, or social services
