The Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund is looking for a well-qualified expert to fill a contractual position as Technical Assistance (TA) Advisor in the Tax Policy Division based in Washington DC. The appointment term would be for a period of two years, on a renewable basis, subject to satisfactory performance and continued business needs.
The TA advisor will participate in the division's delivery of capacity development in tax policy to IMF member countries, and will be expected, after a time, to lead such missions. The selected candidate should have broad knowledge and experience in the tax policy area, including VAT design, tariff reform, international taxation, fiscal federalism issues, business taxation, revenue forecasting, personal income tax structure, excise taxation and the design of fiscal regimes for extractive industries.
Additionally, the candidate will contribute to other work of the division by reviewing the tax policy content of IMF surveillance and lending programs; participating in research and preparation of policy papers; responding to technical queries from within the IMF and from member countries; and liaising with other institutions engaged in work in the area. Extensive overseas travel may be expected.
