Technical Appeals Specialist
PhD Degree in Law Degree OR Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in developing
and presenting conservation plans or providing technical assistance to
landowners OR acceptable previous work experience as determined by the
In-depth legal knowledge of appeal and NRCS programs.
Experience required with Windows, Fax, Copying Machine, MS Word, MS Excel
Provide expert level assistance for program and technical adverse decision
matters. Provide training for NRCS staff to ensure proper handling of technical
and programmatic activities during conservation planning, contracting, and
practice implementation to ensure Farm Bill activity is complete, accurate, and
according to policy. Knowledge of conservation planning process, practice
implementation, required planning/practice implementation forms, and Farm Bill
contracting is required.
Assist NRCS staff on technical and program adverse decisions which may
include reviewing documents, providing information, and assisting in hearings.
Assist NRCS with providing technical and program adverse decision training
to field, area, and state staff across the state of Kansas. 30%
Support for other Farm Bill program activities. 10%
Overnight travel: 3 - 5 weeks per year
Air travel anticipated: 3 - 5 weeks per year
Rental cars: 3 - 5 times per year
