McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Technical Advisor to provide litigation support to patent teams on telecom-related matters in one of the following locations: Richmond, Washington D.C., Tyson's Corner, Dallas or Houston. The candidate should have a post-graduate degree in Electrical Engineering with technical expertise in the telecommunications industry and specific experience with the 4G/5G telecommunications standards. Experience with patents or qualification as a patent agent is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understands the historical and latest developments in the specific and related areas of technology.

  • Analyzes and understands standards applicable in the specific and related areas of technology.

  • Analyzes patents in the specific and related areas of technology, including patents and patent families at issue in litigation.

  • Analyzes embodiments of the specific and related areas of technology, including use of products, methods, and services by clients, and provides supporting technical analyses relating to infringement and non-infringement.

  • Performs research and analyzes patents and other prior art in specific and related areas of technology, including for validity or invalidity purposes.

  • Conveys knowledge and teaches litigation teams about technology, products, services and patents at issue.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Masters Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering

  • Technical expertise in telecommunications technology, including specifically within 4G/5G space, obtained from at least 2-4 years relevant work experience or academia

VIEW JOBS 10/13/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-11T00:00 POSITION SUMMARY: The Technical Project Advisor - Downstream, leads the process to prepare bids, responses and analyses primarily for the Environmental Services operations including sales proposals that may include hazardous waste management and/or lab pack, remediation, drum management and field services for industrial customers. The Technical Project Advisor supports the Company's execution of revenue management activities and has technical sales responsibilities supporting the sales team; interacts with all levels of management; and at times, acts as a liaison between the sales team, key corporate departments and field operating units. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Interprets and presents comprehensive analyses related to client requests for proposals/bids and portfolio analysis projects to department management, recommending course of action and/or solutions. Develops a long-term vision of how to better utilize or improve existing tools to help the team resolve issues and/or work more efficiently and effectively. * Reviews and approves work product for business rationale, quality and accuracy, including price and cost estimates, proposals, bids and analyses. * Establishes, evaluates and refines department processes and protocols focused on interdepartmental partnerships with key departments including but not limited to Field Operations, Sales, Operations, Procurement, Safety and Environmental. * Assists in developing strategic recommendations by working with business partners to analyze and understand all necessary data including sales data, market trends, competitive landscape and current pricing. * Provides statistical reports to the leadership team that reflects performance of the pricing activities. * Analyzes results and recommends future, pricing, operations and sales approach. * Leads department-sponsored projects from initiation to completion and coordinates inter-department meetings, communications related to projects, processes and improvements. * Performs sales related and other assigned responsibilities to support the sales team. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent. QUALIFICATIONS: * Minimum of 5 years of technical sales estimations, financial analysis, sales analysis, field sales experience, and/or pricing experience (required). * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a technical related field (preferred). * Master's Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statics or Business Administration (preferred). * Previous experience in estimations or proposal/bid organization (preferred). * Previous experience in Construction Management and/or Civil Engineering (preferred).
