Our Central Accounting team is seeking well-qualified applicants for an open Technical Accounting Manager position. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team providing technical accounting guidance to the finance organization within Lockheed Martin's Rotary and Missions Systems segment;

  • Collaborate with financial planning and analysis, program finance, and business area controllers and their staff to analyze accounting issues;

  • Work with Lockheed Martin's Corporate Controllers office to ensure consistency with regard to the accounting for complex accounting matters;

  • Review financial results to ensure appropriate application of US GAAP across the Rotary and Missions Systems segment;

  • Team with the legal / contracts organization to structure transactions that align to specific US GAAP reporting requirements;

  • Actively interface with senior members of the finance and business operations community to drive improved business results.

  • Other special projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications

Active CPA license; Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting from an accredited university; A deep understanding of current technical accounting and reporting matters; Extensive knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and SEC regulations.

VIEW JOBS 8/19/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-17T00:00 <strong><u>BASIC FUNCTION:</u></strong><br />  <br /> Provide technical support and supervision to the processing and recording of financial transactions, advising, and reporting to management aspects of the financial operations in promoting fiscal responsibility.  Provide proper compilation of financial data for the institution’s multi-million dollar operation in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.  Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports for the Hospital used by management for internal and external reporting purposes.  <br />  <br /> <strong><u>DIMENSIONS:</u></strong><br />  <br /> Reporting to this position are: Staff Accountants and Senior Accountants<br />  <br /> <strong><u>NATURE AND SCOPE:</u></strong><br />  <br /> Interact internally with department heads, vendors, consultants, auditors, and Hospital and University officials.  Interact externally with vendors, consultants, and the general public.<br />  <br /> <strong><u>PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:</u></strong><br />  <br /> Provide supervision to staff, which includes participating in the hiring process, training, job development, conducting evaluations, and initiating disciplinary actions.<br />  <br /> Conduct and complete employees’ initial and annual competencies in a timely fashion.<br />  <br /> Direct, monitor, and provide technical financial assistance to staff, department heads, and consultants.<br />  <br /> Assign work to staff ensuring that the duties are properly and efficiently distributed.<br />  <br /> Supervise monthly financial closing activities ensuring that all accounting subsystems (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash Processing, Inventory, Patient Accounting, Revenue Control, and General Accounting) are properly interfaced in the computerized general ledger system.<br />  <br /> Review and analyze all entries before input into the primary financial system.<br />  <br /> Review, analyze, and reconcile all cash accounts to ensure the financial integrity of the cash and investment balances that are reported to management.<br />  <br /> Review all reports and analyses submitted to ensure accuracy of financial reports to management.<br />  <br /> Responsible for internal and external auditors’ insight into the current operations of the Hospital. <br />  <br /> Serve as coordinator and technical advisor during year-end external audit and preparation of the final audit of the financial statements.<br />  <br /> Liaison with Management Services regarding data input, edit reviews, and the overall operation of the primary and subsidiary financial computer systems.<br />  <br /> Provide technical financial assistance, review, and analysis of internal controls to ensure that current policies and procedures are followed in maintaining the financial integrity of the Hospital.<br />  <br /> Serve as contact person for all management requests to ensure understanding of the department’s accounting areas.<br />  <br /> Attend annual mandatory compliance training program, which addresses the prevention of fraud and abuse within the Hospital.<br />  <br /> Participate in activities that detect and prevent fraudulent behavior and abuse.<br />  <br /> Attend mandatory administrative and department meetings.<br />  <br /> Assume other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area.  The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive.<br />  <br />  <br /> <strong><u>ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS:</u></strong><br /> Promote adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, the Howard University Code of Ethics and the Health Sciences Standards of Conduct.<br />  <br /> Attend annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training.<br />  <br /> Participate in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements.<br />  <br /> Actively participate in Health Sciences Compliance Program activities.<br />  <br /> Adhere to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures.<br />  <br /> Maintain confidentiality of patients, families, and staff.<br />  <br />  <br /> <strong><u>CARES CRITERIA</u></strong><br /> Must demonstrate collaboration;
