Salary/Hourly Rate:
$107k - $140k
Position Overview:
The Technical Accounting Manager will lead the technical lease and capital accounting functions within Finance. The role will involve reviewing technical lease accounting transactions and collaborating with other departments internally to gain insight into the company's projects.
Responsibilities of the Technical Accounting Manager:
Gather necessary information about the progress of the capital projects (such as construction status, fair market value estimates, timing of landlord reimbursements, etc.) to determine both lease and capital accounting implications.
Own the review of ASC 842 transaction files for lease commencements, modifications, sale-leasebacks (including failed sale-leasebacks), and the research and documentation process for technical questions that may arise.
Maintain processes in Capital Control, including but not limited to, reviewing transactions processed by the company for capitalization vs expense accounting treatment, reviewing the settlement of assets under construction as they are placed into service, and reviewing the retirement of assets, as well as the potential impact to the P&L.
Main point of contact with the property development and maintenance teams for reporting needs.
Participate in the month-end close for both Leasing and Capital Control.
Point of contact for internal and external audit requests related to technical Leasing and Capital Control.
Qualifications for the Technical Accounting Manager:
2 to 5 years of relevant work experience (preferably with the Big 4), with exposure to Technical Leasing (ASC 842) and/or Capital Control.
Big 4 background is a plus.
Experience with technical accounting research required.
Must be comfortable to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficient in the entire Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners.
Education Requirements:
Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other business discipline required.
Certified Public Accountant is required.
